Set in Matsukawa, 24 km from The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum, ワールドカリーの館 すぱいすろーど offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. The hotel located along the Oito Line that was accessible by car or taxi from Shinano-Matsukawa, Kita-Hosono or Hosono station. We had multiple email and message communications with the owners. Atsu responded to reassure that our commute concern would be solved. He would pick us up and drop off at Hosono station. The price of the hotel was very affordable and could walk to train station if having no luggage. Atsu was very accommodating to our trip plan change. He was thoughtful to drop us to the Shinano-Matsukawa station that the waiting area was warmer & was in town. Guest rooms were on the 2nd floor of a Curry Restaurant. Atsu helped carrying the suitcase up to the room & brought us furniture that we needed. He was also the chef of the restaurant. The food was yummy. We highly recommended this

Takimi Onsen Inn that only accepts one group per day features a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 9.1 km of Otsumago and 9.3 km of Kotoku-ji Temple. Truly one of the highlights of our time in Japan. The building, rooms, and onsen are incredible and the hospitality can't be beat. We were caught in a rainstorm before our scheduled pickup and the owners so kindly dried our sopping wet clothes and shoes. After that, we warmed up in the onsen which left our skin feeling so smooth and headed to a delicious and expansive dinner. We finished the night falling asleep to the roaring sound of the waterfall due to the heavy rains. We'll definitely be back.

Tsutaya Tokinoyado Kazari features an open-air bath, free bikes, a garden and bar in Kiso. This 4-star ryokan provides a spa experience, with its hot spring bath and hot tub. The meal was just incredible. Each meal is special, with many local and seasonal ingredients. This gives a proper traditional Japanese meal experience in my opinion, with plenty different textures and tastes. The scenery is breathtaking, with Mt. Ontake. There are free drinks available in the lounge, and the onsen is really big, with two outside baths. The staff is really nice and can speak decent english.

Located within 6.1 km of Matsumoto Station and 8.5 km of The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum, Matsumoto Jujo provides rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Matsumoto. I recently had an incredible stay at Matsumoto Jujo, and I can confidently say it ranks among the best experiences I've ever had. With its breathtaking scenery of asama onsen area and exceptional service, Matsumoto Jujo is undeniably wonderful. Upon arriving at the Oyaki and Coffee reception area, I was immediately welcomed by the warm and friendly staff, who greeted me with refreshing drinks. They serve excellent coffee, hojicha, and oyaki, which are traditional snacks from Nagano. The reception itself beautifully merges modern design with traditional elements, and the staff shared that the building was originally a geisha space, now tastefully renovated into a cafe. They provided an illustrated map of the facilities and nearby cultural sites that was both artistic and easy to navigate. The soothing background music in the cafe added to the overall ambiance. I stayed in a standard twin room in the Honbako building, which exuded a unique atmosphere by combining industrial and vintage styles. The room featured a private onsen on the balcony, offering the perfect opportunity for relaxation at any time. Outside the room, I discovered complimentary snacks, juice, and tea. Inside, the amenities were top-notch, including a Nescafe coffee machine and a tumbler as a thoughtful guest souvenir. The handwritten welcome message from the hotel truly stood out as a personal touch. As a book lover and architecture enthusiast, I was thrilled to find the library at Matsumoto Jujo. It boasts a fantastic collection of books and a beautiful interior. The unique concept of the library, along with clear signage, made it easy to navigate the hotel and enjoy everything it offers. Both dinner and breakfast were outstanding, featuring carefully crafted dishes. The staff were attentive to dietary restrictions and allergies. As a lacto-ovo vegetarian, I appreciated their diligence in confirming my food preferences multiple times.
