The hotel main buildings were characterful and expertly appointed to create a pleasant rustic experience. The hotel room (standard room) we stayed in was a reasonable size, well-appointed and very clean. The bathroom was very modern, smart and clean. The bed and pillows were good quality - firm but not hard. The bedding and towels were ultra white and comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast which offered a reasonable range of choice - something for everyone. We dined at the hotel in the evening, and the food was wonderful. Staff were smart, friendly and personable; also very hard-working. They welcomed our little dog, and there was an allocated area for dining indoors with a dog, which was appreciated.
If you enjoy peace and tranquility, this is the place to stay. Very well located and served by good transport links. Sufficient shops and only minutes away from St Peter Port the capital. We ate at the hotel most of the time and can recommend it.You won’t be disappointed. A wonderful choice of food awaits.
Good location to explore island as nice and quiet but attractions nearby. Imperial hotel and Taste of India good for food. Guernsey Pearl and the Himalayan Cafe must be visited for shopping and good food. Beaches very close by - but not close enough to walk if got small people. Honesty boxes nearby for vegetables and fudge! History of WWII and the occupation of the island very interesting to explore - forts, underground hospital and other bunkers.
Ideal for walking and exploring coastal areas, everything you need in one place. Food, drink and local services all within a short walk. Excellent reliable bus services to all areas at an affordable price, use the Guernsey bus app. 30 minute bus ride to St Peter Port, 10 minute direct taxi ride to airport.
Did not stay in Castel area itself during the day, only for overnight at the hotel. Spent most of time touring round the whole island, visiting all the occupation-related museums, dining for lunch and evening meals in St Peters Port after the first night, Excellent bus service meant there was no need to hire a car.
An ideal location, we could travel all over the island via public transport . The ferry was available to visit local island which we took advantage of .I am so glad we did the islands and stunning !! Lots of local restaurants and cafes couldn’t ask for more . Very relaxed atmosphere and friendly people
