Hotel in Ballasalla ( 0.6 miles)
Situated 400 metres from Isle of Man Airport, this friendly, budget hotel offers great-value accommodation including breakfast, Wi-Fi and free private parking, with excellent public transport links... -It is really, really close to the airport. But, Castletown is also just about a 20 mins walk, and the harbour or coast is easily accessible like that. Just as the shops or restaurants. The hotel seems to be very remote, but it is not the case. -A big plus that the receptionist was friendly and smiling early morning too! -I found everything in the room, no concerns.

Hotel in Douglas ( 4.9 miles)
The Savoy has a fitness centre, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Douglas. The property is around 12 km from Laxey Wheel, 21 km from Castle Rushen and 19 km from Peel Cathedral. Lovely breakfast was included, staff went above and beyond helping me.
The countryside was lovely and the outside of the two barns but inside was a disappointment. The 3 bed deluxe was not large enough for a wheelchair user. The bathroom & toilet was down the corridor and the kitchen was shared and not kept clean. Eathing out nearby was poor - only 1 pub with a very limited menu.
Castletown has everything you need within it. Good pubs and places to eat. To see the rest of the island you do need transport as there are many places of interest to visit including museums such as the TT museum at Ramsey or Murray's museum of around 150 motorbikes that comes with a cup of tea and welcoming staff who work there. Castletown is a great base for a visit to explore the island at your leisure and would recommend it to all.
The little village of Ballabeg is in a very pretty setting. It does get very dark at night so carry a torch. The location was a short walk to the steam train station. You can catch the train from here and go to Douglas etc. Check the timetable as you need to stop the train. We ate at the pub in the next village, which was great food with a Sunday Carvery, there was also a small shop next door. We only had about 4 days touring the whole island, which for us was about right. The village is mainly residential so take lots of supplies with you or from the local shop. We had our van and cycles with us, to get out and about. The IOM is a wonderful, quiet island and will definitely return.
Been told by my first visit to reception the hotel had run out of food! I have never heard such rubbish… On my last day, I got a full in English breakfast… It was fantastic… The only day I ate anything there! Hi, felt sorry for the manageress… God knows what pressure she has to work under? I felt so pleased for her when she could actually offered me a breakfast. She was a different girl totally, and I felt sorry for her… It was a great breakfast… Bless her…
Nice location great bus service our reason for travelling to the Island was for the TT races easy walking distance to the track. Castletown is fairly quite more things to see in Douglas but as before it suited me for the location to what we went there to see
As a central location for access to local bus routes or car hire access it’s great. There is the noise from the airport when it starts it’s day but nothing to disturb a good nights sleep. Ballasalla itself has a local pub and takeaway for local meals. Further north is the capital Douglas or south to the beaches of Port Erin and Port stMary all within 20 minutes drive. To the west up into the hills and Glens to the east Castletown with its own historic castle a town centre wrapped around the harbour . It’s just all so easy.
Best location in town if you are arriving by Ferry from other parts of UK. Very good breakfast selection. We had a sea view room and it had views from multiple windows. Everything we wanted to do in the city was within walking distance. Shopping, food & drink establishments were less than 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. We will recommend this to all and will stay there on our next visit to IOM.
I enjoyed the IOM very much. Will certainly go back. I will also stay at the Empress Hotel. It was a luxourius hotel without paying luxourious prices. Very sociable and friendly with the added pleasure of a piano bar. Made a great change from a disco. Music catered for all age groups Food was lovely. Breakfast had everything you could want. Fruit, Croissants, cereals, cooked English breakfast and more.
Really well looked after location - very pleasant stay. Very friendly staff (but from my stay everyone in on the IOM is friendly :-) ). Very helpful staff. the finish on the hotel was old but very well maintained and you could see that the furniture and finish was made to endure - extremely good care has ben taken in the maintenance of the hotel. Really well worth the stay and would definitely stay again.

Douglas
While the apartment isn't brand new and glittering, it was absolutely very clean, comfortable, and really well located, just a 10 minute walk to the main bus stop and some very good restaurants. Yes, the shower door slides open, and the toilet seat is a bit loose, but these were very minor inconveniences for me personally and if I was to return to the IOM,I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Great Place for Short Stays as well as something that is budget friendly. Very close to restaurants and Bray Hill for the IOM TT.
