Situated in Matamata, housewithnonails has a garden and shared lounge. Boasting a 24-hour front desk, this property also provides guests with an outdoor fireplace. Traveling for me is meeting people living in the place you visit, talk, exchange, and grow from these moments created together So, having the chance to meet Jen and Dewi in their wonderful house was such one of the great moment of my trip discovering NZ for the first time. I loved staying there for two nights, and will of course recommend it to any travelers reading this.

Such a lovely location! We arrived quite late, but was still greeted by the host who gave us a very warm welcome. The building was very charming, and the smell of fresh wood was still present in the lodge, despite it being 30 years or so old. Would have loved to have stayed longer.

Matamata Central Motel is a 20-minute drive from the Hobbiton Movie Set & Farm Tours, where parts of the Lord of the Rings trilogy were being filmed. Great size rooms and good facilities. Highly recommended
