Whitianga is a great central location for the Coromandel...
Whitianga is a great central location for the Coromandel coast. Nice town atmosphere with plenty of good places to eat and drink. Cathy O'Malley's was warm and welcoming in very bad weather. Within 40 mins drive of Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach, it offers plenty of accommodation and services that the other locations don't. Easy ferry access to the Cooks Beach side, and the bonus of Lost Spring thermal spa and restaurant for romantic relaxation and dining. Great location which we'll visit again. If you have a yen to propose, Cathedral Cove is the place to do it.

Unfortunately the weather wasn't great for our visit but we still did all the things we wanted to do for our trip. A little disappointing that there weren't more choices for cafes eating out, quite limited.

Situated 5min from the main town center and beach, it's a perfect location for a peaceful stay. Highly recommended if you want to be close to the amenities but want some peace and quiet. It's more suburban with no motels.

Whitianga is a great place to visit.
Whitianga is a great place to visit. If you are traveling from Auckland, the trip is not too far by car but traveling from as far as Wellington might be too far if you're only going to be there for a short period of time. Visiting the Lost Spring Spa is one of the favourites on my list, but there is much more to see & do.

Cooks Beach is a lovely community with all amenities required for short stays of 5 days or less. Some beautiful views and surrounds, lovely beach with calm sea making for safe swimming. Some lovely cafe/bars/restaurants offering good food, wine, coffees etc

Nice place to visit and relax.
Nice place to visit and relax. Esp if you from busy place Auckland and want peace of mind ya visit whitianga. Just the right place to leave all your stress and come fresh. Nice natural views and warm ocean swim. Love every bit of it.
