We stayed in a large room with a view of the sea. Very clean with a comfortable bed. The rooms are part of a converted church complex in the country. What stands out is the real B&B breakfast served to you in a dining room. The host is friendly and accommodating. There are good restaurants, about 10 minutes' drive in Timaru.

I was more than happy with my stay, was warm, clean and tidy, homley. I liked the little extra such as cookies and special creamy coffee. I would deff recommend this place and will be happy to stay again. Close to where we needed to be and close to shops.

We spent a delightful couple of days at this very welcoming B and B. It was an easy walk across to Caroline Bay, where you can see little blue penguins coming in at dusk, or up to the main street of Timaru. Our room was quite luxurious and came with its own bathroom with spa bath; and the breakfasts were delicious, full English ones. But best of all was the very warm welcome from our hosts Claire and Lindsay, who were a fount of information about the local area and a source of great conversation. Nelson Heights Bed and Breakfast is a wonderful example of why people choose to stay at B and Bs rather than impersonal hotels; we couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

The host was super friendly, and the place felt just like staying at a friend’s home. The heated mattress kept me warm at night, and I could see stars and the Milky Way early in the morning! They even made homemade jam for breakfast and asked what I needed. Perfect spot if you’re looking for a quiet and cozy stay.
