Very great location and more than anything great and helpful staff, an always smiling and friendly kitchen chef :) and the owner helped us to arrange tickets to the Youjian Pingyao show (don't miss it!), Breakfast was basic Chinese breakfast but good, and we had dinner in the restaurant every night. We were afraid that we would get back pain from the beds (Kang Style bed means a brick / wood underground and a thin mattress), but unless you have severe back problems, you'll sleep well here.

Set in Pingyao in the Shanxi Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Xiangshengyuan Hostel features a terrace and views of the city.

This is a family-run hotel with the whole family pitching in. They were delightful and keen to be helpful with lots of cups of tea, advice and assistance with purchasing tickets. It felt like I was staying with friends. Very little english, but fearless with using translation apps. Very thoughtful - gave me a bottle of water for the train home after dropping me at the station. The standout for this property was the staff. I wish them every success with their business.

Must say that lonely planet recomendation about staying in this hotel was not a disapointment. A lovely hotel in the heart of Pingyao with people that speak very good english. A quiet place where we could get a very good rest. We booked a deluxe room and it met our exceptations. You can even ask for a pick up at the station and they will help you

Everything was so excellent😊😊😊. The place is very convinient to the old city only by walking. It is also easy to get taxi and not far from the train stations. The host was very friendly and helpful. She tried to speak with me in both English abd Chinese so i can practise my Chinese.😊 Im happy to find such a good place for my trip.😊

It was perfectly clean and very comfortable. The manager was great and always happy to help with anything. There’s free water in the fridge at all times. Great location just out side of the busy streets. 10/10!

Beautiful accommodation at the centre of ancient city of Pingyao in the bustling South Street. The owner and staff are very friendly, warm and helpful. They picked us up from the station and brought us to Ancient City (cars are not allowed inside) and also brought us on the day of departure, both for very reasonable fees, because we were with 5, too many for a taxi. The hotel and rooms were in a traditional style, allowing for great pictures.The beds and cushions were very comfortable for us. The bathroom and toilet are combined in a small room, but it wasn't bothersome.The owner knows the nearby shops and good spots to go to, definitely ask for tips. We enjoyed our 2 nights and 3 days in Pingyao a lot, definitely recommended.
