Dinner and breakfast were both superb. The location, bang in the town centre and near the footpath up to the castle ruins, was perfect. It is so nice to find a historic building restored and used in this way! It was a real treat to stay there.

Imagine a Tera Machi of 8 temples in your back, a solid wall protecting the front side and a river to cross. This all in an old but nevertheless very comfortable original house. You do not have to miss any comfort to still get the experience of living in older times. The house contains museum items so every day there is something to inspect or admire. No, you do not have to tiptoe through the big rooms, you have ample space to move. The modern built old bathtub is a comfortable and funny experience. The kitchen has all necessary modern amenities in a style that suits the property. In all details a successful attempt to perfection. Besides all this, Ikuno is a charming little town, with surprising good views at every bend of the river, where life seems to go at an easy pace. There are nice places to eat and there is a big enough supermarket with a good variety of fresh foods.

We STRONGLY recommend to anyone and we will come back again for sure! Our stay at this ryokan was truly incredible. Thank you for welcoming us so warmly. The traditional Japanese decoration was absolutely beautiful, especially the small veranda overlooking the garden — the morning view was magical. The room was serene and elegant, the futon comfortable and the traditional Japanese food was delicious and refined. Additionally, the hosts, a lovely couple were so kind — it felt like being welcomed into a Japanese family. The whole experience was unforgettable. We were truly delighted. Thank you again!

I was visiting my Baba in Sanda and decided to go see the Takeda Castle Ruins for the first time. I found this lovely minshuku (bed and breakfast) on booking.com. Shunko, her husband and her parents were the most welcoming hosts - so friendly, kind and warm. I enquired about eating dinner there and when I arrived at 7.45pm in the evening, they had prepared a beautiful Japanese meal. They also asked me to put a cute little sticker on their world map to show where I had come from :) The room reminds me of my grandparents home, so warm and homely. It came with a private wash-basin and toilet, with a bath and shower outside the room. Shunko's father was kind enough to take me to Takeda Castle Ruins in the morning 🥺 and then I came home to a beautiful Japanese breakfast. It was one of my most memorable and enjoyable stays in Japan, the family said that they have had this bed and breakfast for over 100 years - and I can see why, it is run with so much love! Could not recommend more ❤️ i am half Japanese so speak Japanese, but they can speak some English for any foreigners.

very close to the JR Takeda Station. Free of fear even arriving in the late evening. the owner is so kind to introduce me the environment and local legends. the hospitality is so heartwarming.

The hostess lady is from Taiwan and speaks Japanese and Mandarin, so that was very helpful for us. She was also very helpful providing information on the castle ruin and local attractions and restaurants. When we asked her if there was any place we could rent bikes to ride along the river, she offered her own bikes to us. We really loved staying here in Takeda. It's quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Everything we wanted in a small Japanese town experience.
