It was a pleasure staying at Hotel Savana. The building as such is just beautiful and the rooms are very special with a great view. Great location in a very nice little town. We enjoyed it a lot!!! I lived the old colonial time house, which was transformed into the hotel. Renovation is really well done which preserves the spirit of the building and is very atmospheric. Emmanuel, chef of staff is very friendly and helpful. He also makes great cocktails! Best place to stay in Sao Filipe.

Great location and view, very beautiful hotel, pool area and rooms and above all the most friendly staff and manager/owner you can find. Diner and lunch were also very good, they only offer what the fishermen have catched that day which means everything fresh!!!

We were welcomed by Kaïda and her son, they are very kind people with who we always had fun. Beside, she has been helpfull for everything (places to eat or going out / hikings / taxi) The room is clean and everything look like the pics on the website. The hotel is located 5min from the city center and offer a great view on the ocean with the beach just underneath ! Thank you for everything and hope we will come back!

Loved this place, very large apartment, very clean and comfortable. Lovely friendly hosts. Arranged airport transfers and a tour for us, even came down and offered us food. Very close to the centre of Sao Filipe with nice sea views as well. Very cosy place to stay.

Absolutely fantastic! Very nice stay in a “funco” house, typical from “Chá das Caldeiras”. The hosts Léa and Joao are really really nice, the breakfast prepared by Isabela is also amazing. A real place to stay if you intend to visit Portela in Chá das Caldeiras.

This is a very nice place to stay for couple nights. Quiet, comfortable. Breakfast was included and I have asked for it at 6am, so the Lady just left it from the evening (coffee in a termopot). Also you can ask for a dinner, which is really good, super tasty (Ive got a fish with rice and veggies for 900 escudo). And also you can ask for some wine (industrial or craft homemade, about 200 per glass). The place has not many reviews but it's seems super new, means you will have also super new bathroom which is nice bonus for staying. As for the transfer: you can book the place in Alluger with the room booking. The way from Sao Filipi is 50-60 mins and costs 1000 escudo. As for the trekking: 1. The location is the best, right next to the start of few trekking routes 2. You can ask the owner for a guide, just ask for someone local who is actually based here in Caldeiras and not in Sao Filipe. As for the Pico Grande you will definitely need a guide because it's super tricky route. For the Pico Grande the usual price is 6000 per person but it's could be a discount if you are in group 3. Also you can walk by yourself (without guide) for couple places: e.g Pico Pequeno (it's now that far) and also you can walk to the Forest Monte Velha (about 5 kms till the entrance to the Forest) or even to Mosteiros (about 16 kms in total, 10 kms at the normal road and 6 kms are a bit difficult, inside the forest - not the easiest trail but it's possible)

The location is amazing. The room was clean and functional. Food was healthy, and portions were big. Jose helped us planning our hikes around. I highly recommend ! Oh, there is two super cute cats.

Comfy room with a private big bathroom for one night. They woke up early just to make us 5:30am breakfast, which cost only €3 each. We checked in earlier because of the ferry delay and left later because there was no transport to come back to the capital. We experienced understanding and welcoming each moment of our stay.
