Thank you to Albert and Aileen for a wonderful stay at Grainbank Mews. The room was beautiful and sparkling clean, with a delicious breakfast prepared for us each morning. Great location, just outside Kirkwall and a couple minutes' drive to all the shops and restaurants. We were really curious about life on Orkney, and Albert was very kind and informative, even pointing us in the direction of the 'Orkney Dictionary' (which I bought!) This place is a treasure and we would love to stay again the next time we are in town.

I was a little concerned that this would be a 'party hostel' but it was quiet and comfortable. We had a 4 bed room, but it was just for the three of us. The bathroom was clean and the water was hot! The heater worked well, which we were grateful for!

Very quiet at night. Nice dining/ hanging area with good kitchen supplies. Laundry facilities were clean and easily available, with a line to hang clothes in the fresh Kirkwall air. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Great hostel stay! Bit of a walk into town, but then again who doesn't love a brisk Scottish stroll?

    The property is ideal for a couple. It is compact but comfy. There is a small modern kitchen area, a small table to eat at and a two seater settee all in the same room. The bed was comfortable and the power shower in the en-suite was excellent. The location was ideal as well, 15 minutes from both St Margaret’s Hope and Kirkwall.

    The property appeared reasonably new. It was tastefully decorated and well equipped. Basic provisions like bread and milk provided. Did not actually speak with the owner but previous communication was fine. A little out of the way for some but ideal for us. Large walk in shower.
