The owners are such a nice couple, very kind. We really enjoyed our days at hostel+cafe. The place is beautiful, very clean and confortable. The food was very tasty, Japanese traditional breakfast. We strongly recommend it.

Amazing host for a fantastic traditional hostel. The room was like expected, the shared bathroom and the kitchen was completely clean. You can wash your clothes for free. Host was helpful in every way imaginable.

Our stay was perfect! We decided to enjoy the beauty of Aso a bit longer and booked the house quite late, but everything went great. The host was very kind and communicated with us in English. When we arrived, it felt like visiting parents in a cozy country home — we felt so comfortable. And the breakfast was delicious! We stayed for 2 nights at Hokkoma cottage and loved our stay. The property itself was wonderful, had everything we needed and felt like home. Our trip was focused on taking advantage of Aso's beautiful nature and the cottage's location allowed us to do this. It was also great to know that there was a large bath to use after the hike to soak our tired legs!

The location was beautiful - the windows overlooked rice fields and a forested areas. We were able to enjoy nature without having any creepy crawlies enter the property. The house was spotless and the furniture and equipment looked very new. The house had pretty much all the basic amenities we expected and we had a very comfortable 1-week stay, cooking lots of meals from the kitchen in the property. We also loved that there was a BBQ pit embedded in a table right on our own porch. We had many barbecues during our stay because it was lovely to grill our meats while enjoying the early summer weather in the evenings. The property owners were also responsive and helped us with the queries we had very quickly over Booking.com messaging. The shower and bath were very clean and new. We enjoyed hot baths using the tub which filled automatically. All in all, we were very sad to leave! We loved how quiet and close to nature the house was and loved the beautiful views of the area. We were also able to use the property as a base to visit Mt Aso for hiking and make day trips to Takachiho Gorge. We would love to stay again at this property.
