The foothills of the Harz Mountains surrounding the GDA Hotel Schwiecheldthaus are ideal for hiking, cycling and day trips. Private parking is also available on site. The location was right near the heart of the old town, the breakfast was amazing, the bed was extremely comfortable, and was able to be electronically adjusted. The room was very attractive with lots of thoughtful amenities such as a shoe-horn, fruit in the room and chocolates on the pillows. The room also had a small kitchenette which I did not use but might be helpful for some.

The building is a historic building and the inside has been beautifully updated. It is very quiet. The breakfast buffet is wonderful.

The living room has a kettle and a small fridge, the bedroom features a queen size bed and a breath taking view of the castle on the hill. The hostess thinks of nice little touches which make your stay even more special. Parking in the historical part is unavailable but the hotel offers a private parking close by. A quiet and romantic location, perfect for strolls through the historic centre.

This recently renovated apartment is located 36 km from Culture & Congress Centre Wernigerode and 36 km from Train Station Wernigerode. The apartment has private entrance. Good to reach by car and public transport. Central location with parking lots behind the house. Everything was clean and warm. Big accommodation with enough rooms for up to 8 people. Very well recommended!

We for one night and were impressed by the high standard of the hotel. Location – just a short walk from the old town square, yet quietly tucked away from the busy restaurant streets. Perfect balance between accessibility and peace. 10/10 Cleanliness – spotless. We arrived early and the owner was still making sure everything was perfectly clean. Couldn't find a single flaw. 10/10 Service – the owner greeted us personally, was super friendly and spoke excellent English. He showed us around, recommended places to eat and visit, and was happy to help with small requests like extra bedding or coffee. 10/10 Room/Hotel – newly renovated, modern, clean, and cozy. We chose the smallest room, but it was more than enough. Bathroom and furnishings were top quality. Facilities – no kettle in the room, but there’s a well-equipped shared kitchen downstairs (kettle, microwave, fridge, oven, stove). Plus, a fridge with German beer for guests – a nice touch! Keep in mind the building has narrow, steep stairs, so might not be ideal for those with mobility issues. For us: 10/10, but objectively: 9/10 Parking – private parking available 200m from the hotel for €5/night. Open-air, spacious, and convenient. 9/10 Price – not the cheapest, but absolutely worth it for the cleanliness, quality, and service. We paid €95 total for one night + parking + local tax (around €53/person). Great value.
