I stayed one night at the Gasthof zur Post during my visit to the Großlockner Alpine Road. The place exceeded my expectations. Nice quiet room on the 3rd floor, with a nice balcony overlooking a portion of town. The room could have accommodated a family of five (plus pets—the place is dog-friendly). Owners Tanja Neubauer and Hans were very very friendly. I wanted to get up quite early to catch the rising sun on the road and Tanj prepared breakfast for me earlier than the normal opening time. It was an excellent start to the day. I definitely recommend the Gasthof zur Post. It's about 20 minutes away from Zell am See and about 25 mins. to the toll booth of the Großlocknerstrasse.

Great quiet location (need a car to reach it, not walkable), just like you see it in the photos. The appartment was spacious, kitchenette had everything you need for a quick cooking, big living room and bedroom, very clean bathroom and big balcony where you can sit. Good free parking space. The garden and the view from the balcony were amazing, you can see the river and also you can watch the sunset from the balcony. The host was great.

New and very nice decorations everywhere. Top equipment. The sweetest hostess in the world knows how to bake :-) A dog is a great friend of children. A wonderful holiday, we enjoyed it very much.     Taxenbach is a small town which had everything we needed, grocery store, bakery, butcher and good restaurant. It is located near many other small towns like it and major Austrian attractions. It has a train station for easy access to other locations.

    A very pleasant pension at the foot of the Alps. Our family room was spacious and meticulously clean. The staff was nice and helpful and the breakfast offered a good number of options. Taxenbach is a quiet little town, I highly recommend visiting the Kitzloch gorge which is within walking distance from the pension.

    We went during the hiking season, late summer/early autumn. The location was extremely beautiful. The family that own the hotel were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room had a great view of the hills. We couldn't expect any more for the price we paid.
