We knew nothing about Austria. I was trying to find a nice room with Kitchenette at a good price. I was trying to find a place close to Hallstatt and Salzburg. This was as close as I could get. Wels is only 55,000 people but it feels like a much larger place in terms of what there is to see and do. It dates from the 1100s and there are many traces of the Roman occupation, with hundreds of beautiful old buildings, nice gardens, excellent restaurants and for those who are interested, shopping. An old city with it's charme on some great places.
An old city with it's charme on some great places. Although, Wels has nothing special to see, you can do many things in the area. I would recommend to rent a car and visit the surroundings.
