The purpose of my visit was a professional conference. Hence, I cannot truly comment on the tourist attractions. The Floriade is a nice distraction particularly for nature/flower enthusiasts. It is a busy space surrounded by water. Parliament House is almost certainly worth a visit for the newcomer. The art galleries are somewhat hit/miss (Nat. Portrait and Nat. Art Galleries). Fabulous building constructions with so little to show for it on the inside, but then this may be in the eye of the beholder. The options of sightseeing and experiences are amazing. Food options are first class. Would definitely go back and experience more. I stayed at Kingston - absolutely perfect. Pinnacle Apartments - so spacious. We travel to Canberra annualy to host a dinner for xpat South Aussies. We love to visit, favourite to do's are the Portrait Gallery and AWM. I hosted this years dinner at the Lanterne Rooms. Faboulous food, very obliging staff and a great winelist. Other previous good experiences include the fabulous D'Browes Restuarant in Narrabundah, the East Hotel and the Commonwealth Club, a home away from home.
