The friendly helpful country people. Katoomba offered a variety of diverse shops which we found entertaining as we had both been to the blue mts before and had chosen Katoomba for a catch up as we hadn’t been together for six years. Vegetarian omelette at the little French cafe along with and excellent coffee featured highly on our priorities. Being an artist and writer-I enjoyed taking pictures to sketch when I get home. I love the old Bookshop / Opp Shop in downtown Katoomba! The library to check a few information for my writing. I stopped at the Cultural Centre to see an exhibition. Took pictures of Street Art! Hopped on the local bus-great service. I told them so. Did a short bush walk as well. It’s a beautiful town with lots to do and beautiful scenery surrounding it. We stayed at the Mountain Heritage Hotel which was fantastic, and so beautiful with amazing views. I really enjoyed walking around the Main Street checking out all the cool shops and cafes, visiting Odd mountain was definitely a highlight and so was having pizza for dinner at Rustico. The Blue Mountains visit was INCREDIBLE. The Town itself is somewhat run down so choose your hotel wisely, the Carrington looks to be the best option within the Town. Loved the general Katoomba area, magnificent views of the mountains and so picturesque with a variety of galleries and good quality shopping in surrounding villages. Friendly atmosphere. The Lost Bear Gallery is a must see if you like fine art. Just to see the beautifully renovated building housing the art work is worthwhile. The unit was comfy, clean and we loved how the place was decorated. The bedroom and bathroom were huge. We loved our short stay and highly recommend this place for couples looking for something very different compared to normal hotel rooms. Staff is wonderful! Excellent breakfast and food in the dining room, the bar is well stocked. The Carrington has an undiscribable atmosphere. If in Katoomba this is the place to stay if you enjoy an old (1880) colonial hotel. Sitting on the veranda you can almost feel like taken back in time (with som imagination of course).
