If you want to feel like you have come home, be warmly greeted wherever you may go, then you will enjoy visiting Antigonish. Home to St Francis Xavier University (St FX), Saint Martha's Hospital, the town is a great base from which to explore hiking, beaches and local arts and crafts in NS.

Charming university town with plenty of history and beautiful old homes and churches and buildings. Lots of different restaurants and coffee shops with outdoor dining options, little unique shops as well as bigger commercial stores are handy. Country roads all around for drives to explore the farmlands and the coast. Farmers Markets and Expedition Fair events to visit, late August is bustling with tourists and students settling in for fall. Easy to walk to most places locally and is also centrally located in Nova Scotia, close to all 3 other Atlantic provinces.

I did not like the shampoo and conditioners bottles.

I did not like the shampoo and conditioners bottles. Too hard to squeeze. But the room was great. It was clean. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was great. And the people who worked there were very professional and nice.

Antigonish is a pretty little town with many interesting shops and good restaurants. Main Street is very walkable and parking is not a problem. Their library is a jewel in their crown. We visited to take in a play at Bauer Theatre - neat little theatre on the St. Francis Xavier university campus. Enjoyed it thoroughly. There is a great farmer's market on Saturdays with many tasty food stalls as well as works sold by local artisans. There are beautiful beaches within 30 minutes of the town. We could have easily stayed longer if our schedule had allowed.

The hotel was pleasant from the outside and had some nice gardens but they were full of weeds. I liked that they had an ice machine on the premises and coffee maker in the room. The receptionist was ok but not overly friendly and when I asked to confirm the price she was snippy with me.

The Evergreen Inn is a wonderful Motel. It is very lovingly furnished and the breakfast buffet is rich and very healthy. The location is ideal, parking is included and the space is completely sufficient.
