Powell River is a "jumping off point" for outdoor enthusiasts and has loads of natural beauty. The town itself is nothing special, but the local people have a welcoming, casual and unpretentious vibe that is really charming. Powell River is a pleasant surprise once you get there by ferry. It has charm and a heritage feel to the lovely old neighbourhoods. There is history worth noting. The people were very friendly, it was easy to find dining. I wouldn't have guessed 'Snickers' to be a Greek restaurant but we gave it a try. The portions were huge! I grew up here, so it’s always nice to return.
I grew up here, so it’s always nice to return. It’s a very different town now that the paper mill has closed. Not as vibrant, but the historic townsite is still very interesting to see. I enjoyed the many trail options and the gorgeous sunsets, especially viewed from Willington beach. Really enjoyed walking the well maintained seawall. Also, enjoyed the friendly pickleball club, they were very welcoming. The choice of diverse restaurants was appreciated. The people are relaxed and friendly. Our favourite restaurant was the Cookery in Powell river. Getting around via bike ,bus or shuttle option was easy.Guest review byBrendaCanada
