This was the last leg of our week of Swiss Travel Pass train trips specifically to visit the Kloster Sarnen. After six days of crowded tourist destinations, Sarnen was a welcomed place to rest and recuperate. Hotel Metzgern was a genuine oasis. Close to the Train Station, extremely friendly staff, excellent restaurant and food and by far the nicest place we stayed on our journey. The bathroom and spa bath in the Panorama Suite has to be seen to be believed. LED lighting in the tiles made for such a romantic and relaxing atmosphere to wash away the travel aches and pains. As far as accommodation is concerned this was the highlight of our trip.

A beautifully equipped villa—very spacious and cosy, with a large kitchen that invites long breakfasts or dinners.     It is a small town with not many tourists when we visited.

    It is a small town with not many tourists when we visited. You won't find any typical souvenir shops here (with fridge magnets, key chains, cow bells etc.). Also, every supermarket is closed on Sunday, so plan accordingly.

    Sarnen is so beautiful with lush green hillsides, breathtaking views of the surrounding Alps, pretty streams and a peaceful lake. There are lovely walking trails and parks with boating activities and fantastic amenities. We were only able to stay a short while, but enjoyed a delicious dinner at Molini's, which we highly recommend. Everything we needed for our brief visit was within walking distance, or easy walk to the nearby train station.

    Sarnen is a lovely little town, with a wide range of shops, two supermarkets and a garage. There are lots of walks in the surrounding area which are well signposted. A small river runs through the centre. The town has a range of restaurants. It was very well situated for our overnight stop on a drive down to Italy.

    As other reviews have mentioned, the place is immaculate, full of great quality appliances and essential supplies, including basic groceries! We were picked up from Sarnen Nord station, followed by a short tour to the old town. All necessary info has been provided. Lisa ask checked periodically to make sure everything’s fine. We will most definitely recommend this place to people we know!

    A beautiful location in Sarnen which is a very pretty town. Ideal for a pre dinner stroll. Friendly staff and although we arrived quite late chef stayed to make us a meal. Breakfast was great with a good selection. An upgrade to the panoramic suite was very welcome after a long drive. The hotel is a very calm and peaceful place to stay even though it is in the centre of town.

    The location is extraordinary. We were lucky enough to get a room on the 4th floor, where there is a shared terrace overlooking the lake. The view is incredibly beautiful. The room, although quite small, is very clean and the bed very comfortable. The hotel staff is extremely friendly. We recommend this hotel and we will definitely come back. :)
