Our stay in the hotel was very pleasant. The staff did their best to accommodate our every need with a smile on their faces. The best thing about the hotel is its location, which is at a walking distance to the main shopping street as well as The Forbidden City. The breakfast was not so bad as everybody makes it out to be. Sure, you don't get a buffet, but what you do get is a fresh meal that resembles an English breakfast. I also appreciated how detailed their welcome messages was, which really helped us to find our way from the airport and many other things. All in all - a great value for money!

We loved this hotel and would happily stay here again. The room is huge and the beds are very comfortable. Our 12 year old loved the bed up in the little nook and it had a nice shelf for his stuff and an outlet. The washing machine was great and the staff provided detergent when asked. Bottled water was provided daily, which was really nice considering how hot it was, but there is also a “filtered water” tap which we found perfectly fine. The breakfast… wow. We enjoyed it so much. As vegetarians we were so pleased that there were so many options and we really took advantage of the many Chinese dishes that were available every day. Our child enjoyed some of them and some days he just ate Cocoa Puffs or a croissant but he was happy enough and we ate here every day and looked forward to it. We stayed here for 6 nights and would have been happy to stay longer. We took the subway almost exclusively, and it is a little bit of a walk so take that into consideration. We didn’t find it particularly problematic to walk 15-20 minutes even in the heat, but if that’s a deal breaker you should look elsewhere. We thought this was a great location and the staff were friendly and helpful with varying degrees of English proficiency. Most importantly they want to help you, so it all works out.

We had a great stay at the hotel, and I would especially recommend it for families traveling with children. The location is excellent—very convenient for sightseeing with kids. We could visit attractions in the morning, return to the hotel for a break at midday, and then head out again in the cooler afternoon. It was also very easy to catch a taxi or use ride-hailing services right at the hotel entrance. There are many great restaurants within walking distance, offering a variety of delicious food options. While the hotel is not newly built, the exterior is beautiful and the rooms are clean and well-maintained. One of the highlights was the room setup—it had multiple power outlets that supported both Chinese and European two-pin plugs, along with USB ports and a very handy extension socket. This made charging all our devices very easy. I would also like to give special thanks to Jenny Zhang, the floor manager on the 14th floor. She was exceptionally kind and thoughtful, anticipating our needs even before we asked. Noticing that we were traveling with two kids during the hot summer, she made sure we had plenty of bottled water and extra clean towels. She often checked in to see if we needed anything else, which made our stay feel very warm and welcoming. Highly recommend this hotel for families and anyone looking for a comfortable, well-located stay with attentive service!

FAQs about hotels in Beijing

From Chinese Dynasties to Cultural Dynamics

A world-renowned gem, sprawling Beijing has magnificent monuments and peaceful parks. At its heart is the world’s largest square, Tiananmen, surrounded by important museums and the amazing Forbidden City. This 15th-century, walled complex of palaces neighbors Jingshan Park and Beihai Park with its imperial garden.

Across from Tiananmen Square is the ultra-modern National Center for Perfoming Arts, a beacon of the city’s culture so impressively displayed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the Bird’s Nest Stadium.

To its east is the UNESCO World Heritage listed Summer Palace, a lakeside retreat of emperors, while also UNESCO listed is the grand Temple of Heaven in Chongwen district, where remnants of Ming dynasty city walls are visible. Nearby are several hutongs, narrow alleys with traditional architecture, that contrast with wider, modern roads like Beijing Financial Street, the city's business area.

The most popular Beijing shopping street is Wangfujing, and other must-see sights include the giant pandas at Beijing Zoo and the Great Wall of China, an easy day trip from Beijing.

As you would expect from the capital of the world’s most populous country, there are a good number of 5-star hotels in Beijing on Booking.com, mainly in the Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts. There are also several hotels near Beijing Capital Airport in the northeast.

Loved China as a destinantion, Beijing was least favourite though, but also because it was Golden Week and incredibly busy, we knew that so we had made the choice beforehand, going to the Great Wall was a highlight, along withe Summer Palace and the Hutong district around the Bell & Drum Tower, we visited the Olympic area as well which was interesting and of course Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City, both of the latter were so crowded that we felt a bit underwhelmed by them. Eating Peking Duck in Beijing is a must of course and ours was great, you can order a 1/4 1/2 or full and will come with all the extras you need. If you go to the Great Wall my advice is set off no later than 6.30 so you have chance to enjoy before the crowds arrive later, and you can always put your feet up later !

Travel to Beijing at the low season - mid to end of the September. The Great Wall of China is a must visited place. Had so much fun sliding down on toboggan. The shopping malls are huge & awesome and lots of varieties. People are friendly to help. It is easy to travel around with public transport - subway and public bus (RMB2 per ride regardless distance). Worth of money spent stayed a night at Universal Studio Hotel with 4pm entrance on the day of arrival and an hour earlier entrance the next day. Managed to go on all the rides without long queue.

Beijing is a must-see for anyone travelling to China, I recommend a few days there. The Forbidden City, the Great wall and the Summer palace are must-see for anyone interested in historical architecture and experiencing an ancient culture. However, there is also plenty to do besides that - the hutongs are an amazing way to experience traditional culture in the modern day, as well as buy handmade souvenirs and jewellery. There are massive modern shopping centres with plenty of Chinese and international brands. There are traditional restaurants and swanky modern bars. There is also Gubei water town, offering a great day-trip for anyone wishing to see a bit of nature and quaint town houses. Beijing offer something for everyone.
