The hotel environment was very good, the staff was very friendly, asked us in advance about the arrival time and method, arranged a pick-up car to pick us up, and had a good breakfast. The location of the hotel is very good, it is very convenient to go out and play, it is easy to find, the courtyard is elegant and quiet, and the stay is very comfortable. That was a fantastic stay in one of the best areas of Medieval city. The hosts gave a very warm welcome meeting us at the train station and helping with delivering the baggage which was very handy because one cannot take a car into the ancient city and otherwise has carry your bags from the gates. The location is an ideal balance of central position just several hundred meters away from the one of the main streets with the Administrator’s house and a quite alley away from noise. The room was a separate house with 1,5 floors. The interior is made with love and with much attention to details which make you feel that you are indeed in an ancient city but with all the benefits of modernity. The courtyard where you can sit and have a breakfast or just enjoy tea or simply relax is really impressive. This is family run business and the guys are always ready to help and very responsive.

The room is very clean and nice. The staff is very enthusiastic, and the lady at the front desk is very nice. They gave me a map of the ancient city and enthusiastically marked the address and performance time. It is located between South Street and the county government, and it is very convenient to visit the scenic spots.

We were warmly welcomed by the owner and her staff. The structure is in the heart of the city, and has an enchanting internal cloister. The rooms are large and equipped with every comfort. The bathroom has both a bathtub and a shower. We felt at home and really appreciated the owner's hospitality and friendliness. We will definitely return.

Our stay was a truly exceptional experience. You are welcomed in a serene and relaxing environment. The rooms were beautiful, clean and comfortable. Located in the heart of the historic centre. The staff went above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay, with special mention to Crystal, who was particularly outstanding. Her proactive communication before and during our visit made a significant difference. She assisted us in arranging transportation, booking massages, securing tickets for attractions, and even organizing a special birthday surprise for our family. Our stay at the Water Hotel was absolutely incredible from start to finish. We were met by a driver at the train station to bring us to the hotel and the same was also organised for us to bring us back to the train station the next day all at no extra cost. The hotel is excellently situated in the middle of the ancient city. The room was beautifully decorated and beyond comfortable and clean. The reception staff were so professional and helpful. They helped us buy tickets to access scenic spots around the ancient city. It's a pity we could only stay the one night, we would have loved to stay longer.

Very great location and more than anything great and helpful staff, an always smiling and friendly kitchen chef :) and the owner helped us to arrange tickets to the Youjian Pingyao show (don't miss it!), Breakfast was basic Chinese breakfast but good, and we had dinner in the restaurant every night. We were afraid that we would get back pain from the beds (Kang Style bed means a brick / wood underground and a thin mattress), but unless you have severe back problems, you'll sleep well here.

    This hotel has more of a bare-bones appeal to it, but comes with a long history and period-accurate restoration. It is in the Pingyao Old City, they allow late check-in and check-out. Hosts speak english and are very kind and helpful.

    The city is undeniably beautiful and feels like a living...

    The city is undeniably beautiful and feels like a living museum, perfectly preserved in time. However, it’s very touristy, with shops that all seem to offer the same souvenirs, making it feel like a true tourist trap. It’s worth a quick visit, but I wouldn’t recommend spending too much time there. Additionally, I was disturbed to see many pigs and other animals kept in small quarters in some stores. If you’re sensitive to animal welfare issues, this may be hard to stomach. Overall, while the city has its charm, be mindful of its tourist-centric nature.

    Beautiful ancient city, and you still can feel the daily normal leaving of its inhabitants. Liked the most to have 99.9999% chinese tourist at this time of the year, Mid March. Only 4 westerners encountered. Chinese History at its best. Lots of historical places to visit and learn from ancient China. Unmissable for local and foreigner travellers.

    Incredibly beautiful town, totally made up of traditional Chinese architecture (at least on the main streets). You can buy a ticket that allows entry into many of the sites, including the Draft Bank, Temple of the City God, Confucius Temple and so many more, and then spend a day wandering around exploring them as you come across them. (Note that some of the smaller ones have almost no English signs, so it can be difficult to know what they are!). We bought the ticket from a window nearby (1 minute east) of the draft bank, but there may be other places. It's also interesting to go up the City Walls and see the town from above.

    Everything! Very beautiful traditional courtyard mansion hotel in the heart of the ancient city. The room was very well appointed and comfortable, with a lot of nice touches. The breakfast was delicious. The staff were superb, very attentive and helpful. They’ve offered free pick up and drop off to the train station, which was very convenient. They gave us excellent suggestions for eating places and attractions. They help us to organise our laundry. And more and more! If ever back in Pingyao we will definitely stay here again!

    We had a wonderful 3-night stay in this unique and charming apartment in the heart of Pingyao. The place is full of character and history, yet equipped with all modern comforts. What truly made the experience exceptional was our host, who was incredibly kind and helpful. He arranged transportation for us from and to the train station, as well as a private trip to visit the Shuanglin and Zhenguo temples outside the city—making everything smooth and stress-free. A truly authentic and memorable experience. Highly recommended!
