Stunning ocean view. Suite had wall to wall glass doors and from the moment we opened the door we were greeted with a beautiful ocean view. Loved the balcony and specially the small private pool. We enjoyed seeing small fishing boats as well as bigger ships lined up for their entrance to the Puntarenas dock, and we even saw a couple of macaws flying by. Very pretty decor and furnishings with lots of wood and nice details such as flowers in the bath towels. Good to have small fridge, microwave and hot plate.

Wonderful lodge with feeding stations for Scarlet Macaws and monkeys on the patio railings. A group of French photographers were there when we were there. Basic rooms. Delicious restaurant food at night. Great breakfast.

Exceeded expectations! The stand alone suite/cabins are brand new, beautifully designed, very spacious. Grounds are nice, amazing views to the ocean, lots of birds, a lookout tower, pool, restaurant for an excellent optional breakfast. Really reasonable prices. For dinner the Cerro Lodge is very close. Birds right outside my door.

From the moment I booked, I was very happy with the communication from the host, who got back in touch with me about my questions very quickly. If you're looking for a great host and a great place to stay that is MORE THAN AFFORDABLE, you'll love this place. This place was perfect for our family.     Good base to go on river tour (birds, crocodiles) and walking tour of Carara Park (strongly recommend a private guide). Very hot; get a room with air conditioning, and get to the park when it opens to avoid heat and crowds, and increase wildlife spotting.

    Tarcoles is a fishing village between two rivers.

    Tarcoles is a fishing village between two rivers. It is an excellent place to base yourself for birdwatching and potentially could be great for sea fishing given the amount of fish landed. Chepes Bar / Restaurant is a good choice for meals or at the other end of town the hotel House of Macaws. This is the real Costa Rica with real Costa Ricans living there. No Banks, No souvenir shops, no shoe shops, no clothes shops. Just Grocery Shops and cafes. It is close to the Carara National Park which is well worth a visit and there are hourly buses to Jaco which has the nearest ATM and a variety of shops
