FAQs about hotels in Prague

Discover the Magic of Prague

The Czech capital is nothing short of magical, with Prague’s countless bridges, cathedrals, domes and castles reflected in the Vltava River. Thankfully the city escaped most of WWII’s destruction, leaving the rich history and fairytale façade of this Bohemian city intact.

Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle complex in the world and the St. Vitus Cathedral is a stunning example of Gothic architecture. The Cathedral’s lookout tower rewards those willing to climb 300 steps with the best view of the city.

Walking through the cobblestone streets of the Mala Strana district will bring you to the Charles Bridge. Prague’s beautiful 14th-century monument buzzes with musicians and local crafts sales. The Astronomical Clock, Tyn Church, and Storch building of Old Town compete for popularity with the neoclassical Estate Theatre and the Czech National Museum.

The cafes and restaurants of Wenceslas Square are great for people watching and the Franz Kafka house, the Old New Synagogue and Frank Gehry’s Dancing House are perfect for soaking up history.

Flights arriving at Prague Vaclav Havel International Airport will be in the city centre after a short subway ride. For historic hotels, cheap hostels or charming apartments head to Booking.com for nearly 700 accommodations in Prague.

Prague really is the most beautiful, picturesque city to explore. It's easy to walk around or, if you want, the public transport is plentiful, cheap and covers every nook and cranny of the city. We stayed in the Lesser Town below the castle (my favourite area) it's quieter and prettier than the Old/New Town. It's almost impossible to eat badly in Prague but U Labouti in the castle complex deserves a mention. Mincovna in the corner of the Old Town Square is excellent, very reasonably priced and in an enviable location. Venture out to Letna and visit the Trade Fair Palace (art) and the Technical Museum, both worth the trip. The National Museum at the top of Wenceslas Square is excellent. Try and take in a sporting event, we went to a local derby football match (Dukla v Bohemians). Overall, just take time to stroll, drink lots of beer and remember to look up, the buildings are fabulous. Oh, and watch the Honest Guide on YouTube!

Put on your most comfortable walking shoes because you will be doing a lot of walking in Prague! Even though we didn't actually go INTO the historical buildings but we explored so much of Prague on foot that we actually saw a lot more of Prague and learnt a lot more about Prague than if we had spent time going into the historic buildings. We initially intended to stay three nights but decided to stay one more night and even then we felt we should have stayed a couple of days more!

Prague is a beautiful city, and great mix of Transylvania and Disney land :) I highly recommend the cruise on the river, it was beautiful at night. Its an easy city to navigate thanks to the transport system a mix of busses , trams and the underground. Prague castle is a must see, and many of the gorgeous churches have classical music nights. The food ! I recommended a beautiful little Italian restaurant in Old Town called Black Star, totally delish to eat and watch the world go by.

This was a return trip for me but one of my friends was visiting for the first time so we were sure to show him as much as possible. Everywhere you go you find hidden gems. There is amazing architecture (you can tell the visitors as they are walking around gazing UP) We not only wandered Prague for hours, often getting gloriously lost - the best way to find unknown delights but took side trips to Karlstejn, Kutna Hora and Cesky Krumlov. We also enjoyed trips to the wonderful theatres and concerts in the most beautiful buildings and churches. As we were all over 65 we were very pleased to find out that we could travel on public transport in the city for free - just take your passport! I would suggest that if possible take your trip out of season as it can get very busy in the summer months, but definitely treat yourself to a visit to Prague.

    Prague is beautiful.

Prague is beautiful. Great city to just wonder around and get lost in those narrow streets in the old town, surrounded by the magnificent buildings. It's also very lively with nice restaurants, bars and cafes. Lots of going on along the river. I was in Prague second time and definetely I will come back.

Prague although it has some beautiful buildings is really a huge shopping centre with crowded streets and huge parties of tourists. It would be good to visit at a quieter time. The Municipal House was our favourite location and we found the restaurant and the downstairs bar really attractive with good food and beautiful Art Nouveau details. Excellent staff also. We also attended a concert but were surprised that epople were allowed entry after it had started and worse, they took photographs during the performance.
