Comfortable hotel near the train station, with small, but cozy rooms and good breakfast. Good value for the money. Despite being close to the train station there so not much noise, so we slept good.

Simple model for those who don’t need a reception. Check in online or in the machine downstairs, personal code and minimum to none interaction. Very close to city center and pedestrian streets but still possible to get by car and even find some parking spots around or in the parking garage nearby. Very good value for the money spent. There are plenty of places around you can have a good breakfast starting from 6:30, but you also can try a hotel breakfast (we didn’t). Restaurants, grocery stores, etc. writhing 1-5 min walking. Good family room big enough for 2 adults and 2 kids.

It is quirky and lovely with very kind staff. The connected restaurant is great with excellent food and the hotel serves a really lovely breakfast. Some of the features of the hotel were not 100% suitable to mobility impaired guests, but the hotel pointed out after our stay they do have facilities for this - we did not know at the time unfortunately.

It's a really big and comfortable room. We weren't expecting that much. It has all the space needed for those traveling with more luggage. The bathroom isn't far behind either: it's really big and comfortable. The facilities are very well maintained. I classify it as a superior comfort hotel. The location is perfect for those arriving by train, as it is right next to the station. But they also have a parking space for those arriving by car. The breakfast maintains the hotel's high standard.

This is Mecca for Wagner fans in July and August.

This is Mecca for Wagner fans in July and August. The acoustics of the Festspielhaus are superb and unique--no other place achieves that blend of voice and orchestra. Bayreuth is a charming, real town--nothing kitschy or twee about it. Several good restaurants; and everyone stays open late to accommodate festival goers.

We went there for the opera experience, which is indeed spectacular if you like Wagner. The city is rather ugly in my opinion, and highly car oriented. Outside of the old town, the city is dominated by wide roads driven at high speed. The old town itself is fairly unpleasant as well, though there are some nice culinary experiences to be had. The surrounding countryside is much nicer in my opinion, with some lovely castles to visit.

I stayed in Bayreuth six times before

I stayed in Bayreuth six times before It is a charming city, but of course the major reason for going is the Wagner festival. It is well provided for in terms of restaurants and bars. Perhaps the railway system could be slightly improved. (but I shouldn't complain because I come from United Kingdom where the system is even more broken.

The city is full of history and historic buildings, like the margravial opera house, the old and the new castle, as well as the castle's church. Not to mention Wagner's footprint all over the city.

Bayreuth is famous for the annual festival celebrating Richard Wagner’s operas. Too bad the excellent museum of his is on the other side of town. I had to take taxis to go from one to the other and back to my room.
