While Munich has a lot to offer, it has far too many people...
While Munich has a lot to offer, it has far too many people for my taste. It is also quite expensive. I much prefer Landshut for its nearby location and slower vibe. The regional express train is only €27 and reaches München Hauptbahnhof in about 45 minutes, which is quite comfortable. I think there are connections about every 20 minutes throughout the day. The are also has a lot of local things to offer too, with local historical sites and a great natural hiking area with beautiful views. We booked the hotel at Landshut as it was nearby to an event we wanted to attend. We had no idea how amazing Landshut was and were amazed by what it had to offer. So surprised by the wonderful old town of Landshut with 2 main streets Neustadt and Altstadt full of multicoloured Gothic buildings described as “the longest Gothic terrace in the world”. Landshut is a lovely Bavarian town on the banks of the Isar River. It has a lovely main street with many options for shopping and dining to meet all your desires. The lovely broad staircase is a great background for a photo. The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout. Furniture is old fashioned in keeping with the style of the hotel and there are some beautiful antiques. It’s a ten minute walk to the town and a regular bus service passes close by. Electronic access allows you to come and go late evening. The staff is very friendly and I could get a beer and a pizza in the lobby to keep me awake a bit longer. One great feature is the late check-time at noon, which allowed me to go for a walk in the lovely medieval city of Landshut the next morning while keeping all my stuff in the room.Guest review byOtfriedGermany
