Candelaria is a gem of a destination on Tenerife that we absolutely adore. This charming town offers several small, lovely beaches and a long, beautiful promenade perfect for leisurely walks. It exudes a peaceful and cozy atmosphere, with friendly locals and tourists alike. The town has everything you need, including shops, shopping centers, and a variety of restaurants. Finding parking is easy, at least in February, which adds to the convenience. It's also easily accessible by rental car, just a 20-minute drive from the northern airport. Quiet and clean coastal village.
Quiet and clean coastal village. Very nice for walks along the rocky coastline, also a bit of shopping and dining in the small streets. Not a tourist-packed place like in the southern 'resort' cities of Las Americas and Adeje, but a really nice and relaxing destination. Candelaria is a lovely European town, not touristy like the area on the south/west of Tenerife. It was lovely for a couple of days exploring - the basilica is impressive and beautiful, there are plenty of cafes and nice places to eat along the seafront, and it has easy and quick bus connections to Santa Cruz. I came here to visit friends. The place is well connected with the rest of the island and it is very close to the main city (Santa Cruz) and close enough to amenities in the south of the island. Candelaria has some great restaurants such as Taberna Giron for fine food, Jimmy Food for good burgers and local craft beers from the Canary Island as well as many other good decent restaurants on the beach promenade. Although it was quite a windy and chilly January, it is a great place for a walk in the evening. Candelaria is larger than I expected with plenty of restaurants, bars, and supermarkets with delis. Our favourite was Cosechas Gastrobar. Santa Cruz can be reached in 20 minutes by bus and the stop is only a 3 minutes from the apartment. The hosts were very warm and welcoming. The villa has an amazing pool with views to the ocean and beyond. The villa itself was perfect, the beds are comfy and the kitchen has everything you would need. Candelaria is a few minutes away which has supermarkets and other shops.
