We stayed in Getaria as a base to enjoy all of the surrounding areas. It was well situated between towns. We saw a soccer game in Bilbao one night and drove to France the next day. In Getaria you have a wide range of restaurants to choose from, and lively tapas bars , a very good outdoor bar overlooking the harbor . Safe beaches to swim , very clean. An "ok" place to use as a base for day-trips in the Bilbao/San Sebastian area. However, Getaria is a very small village. Other than a beach and restaurants, there's not much to do. Having said that, it is an excellent location as a base to visit the many, many other areas/sites in this Northern Spain area. So friendly and attentive. The wonderful, cozy and well equipped apartment is perfect. Next to the Balenziaga museum and just a stone drop from the old town. Don’t be put off by the escalator. From the little terrace you can sit and watch people go by. If you bring your four legged hairy child with you, Irantzu’s son is happy to take care of it while you dine.Guest review byGeorgAustria
