The inner architecture is a perfect example of finnish aesthetic and sense of harmony with nature. It’s in full adequacy with the surroundings. The sauna was another masterpiece ! The staff absolutly amazing. More than an hotel : a precious, warmful experience : KIITOS.

Great location, lovely cabin, peaceful, beautiful views. Friendly locals. Loved the sauna. We definitely got the feeling we were here very out of season (end October), which we didn't mind, as we were there for the hiking. 'Breakfast basket', was easily enough for a packed lunch too.

A lovely tiny house equipped with everything you need at a romantic spot on the lake. Especially the sauna and the fireplace inside the living room were absolutely beautiful. We loved our 3 nights there and will absolutely come again.

We traveled in mid december and were mesmerized by the snow covered landscape all around. The traditional wooden house is very aesthetically designed, has a fully equipped kitchen with an electric sauna inside the bathroom. One is treated to stunning views right from the windows. The location is quite central (all essential facilities like the gas station, grocery store, restaurants etc. are within 2mins of driving distance) yet perfectly peaceful and quiet. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. We stayed for 3 nights and were lucky to see the northern lights from the apartment itself.

    Kilpisjärvi in winter is a magical experience. The village is located in the far north of Finland, in the heart of Lapland. It is a popular destination for winter activities such as skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing. The area is also known for its stunning scenery, with snow-covered forests, frozen lakes, and the majestic Saana fell. One of the highlights of a winter trip to Kilpisjärvi is the opportunity to see the Northern Lights. The village is located in an area with minimal light pollution, making it an ideal place to view this natural phenomenon. The Northern Lights can be seen on clear nights throughout the winter, but the best time to see them is during the darkest months of December and January. Kilpisjärvi is also a great place to experience the Sami culture. The Sami are the indigenous people of Lapland, and they have a rich history and culture. There are several Sami villages in the area, and visitors can learn about the Sami way of life by visiting a reindeer farm or a traditional Sami market.     Hiking trails are well signposted.

    Hiking trails are well signposted. The supermarket at the center is very good. Public transport connections could be better but the twice-daily bus to/from Rovaniemi is very reliable. Tour operators organize day tours to the Acrtic Sea in Norway. They sound good but unfortunately were cancelled in summer 2021 due to the covid crap.

    I was in Kilpisjarvi for 3 days to x- country ski but my arrival coincided with a big storm so I spent a lot of time snowbound in my cabin. This was quite a pleasant experience as it was well equiped and you could watch satellite TV from all around the world. The central complex had a nice restaurant and the nearby Haltinmaa did a great value buffet. The Arctic Express bus from Tromso to Rovaniemi stops 100 metres away. I hope to return one day and actually be able to ski !

    Excellent location just 200 m walk to the Kilpisjärvi central shops yet still in a beautiful nature surrounding. Hiking routes start just 100 m away. Good price to quality ratio in an otherwise expensive Kilpisjärvi (this time of the year). Good for a family stay with plenty of sleeping places. Kitchen was well equipped, had coffee brewer and even some left over salt flour and coffee filters.

    The Cahkal Hotel in Kilpisjärvi is a beautiful and very comfortable place to stay in this very special part of Lapland where Finland, Sweden, and Norway meet at one point. The service at the Cahkal Hotel is excellent and the breakfast buffet very delicious! The location of the hotel is fantastic!

    High quality finishing with everything, amenities, showers, wifi. Surfaces as new. Sturdy beds wont wobble. Very nice 20 min path to the hill above with great view (photo attached), starts between the neighboring houses. Luxory silent neighborhood. Nice though narrow view to Kilpisjärvi.
