FAQs about hotels in Montpellier

Art, Architecture and an Aqueduct!

A stately city just inland from France’s Mediterranean coast, Montpellier is capital of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, known for its wine production.

Place du Peyrou, the city’s highest point, has excellent views and has a wide boulevard down the middle of its park. Its west end has a triumphal arch overlooking a pool and on the other side is a magnificent, 18th-century aqueduct running as far as the eye can see.  To the north are France’s oldest botanical gardens, maintained by Montpellier University, one of the world’s oldest universities.

Rue du Bras de Fer is a narrow, medieval street with a secret sight through almost every portico, and another must-see is Place de la Comédie. This wide, pedestrian square is lined with street cafes and impressive buildings including the 19th-century opera house. Streets leading off contain high-end boutiques, while cheaper Montpellier shopping options are Le Polygone shopping center and the huge Odysseum leisure and shopping complex.

Other Montpellier sights include the 14th-century cathedral and the Antigone district with its grand Neo-Classical architecture. Also worth a look is the Musée Fabre art museum, and speaking of art, keep an eye out for the brightly decorated trams.

Before leaving your Montpellier hotel to go to Méditerranée Airport near the Cote d’Azur, sample some local seafood. The oysters are amazing!

Lots of wonderful monuments and historical buildings to visit. Transport system excellent once you have got used to it. Clean and comfortable. A multitude of cafes to choose from. A vibrant city with lots of young people but no trouble. A lot of dog waste though unfortunately.

Travelled by Train from Beziers to Montpellier, easy access to city. Although did have some disruption due to demonstrations, rail staff provided means to achieve our journey. Central square and around the Halles (Market) great place to eat throughout the day and evening.

It is a marvellous city- stunningly beautiful with a chill, friendly and confident vibe. People are very kind to people with little spoken French and most speak quite good English. The food is great and prices reasonable. Being able to either walk everywhere or use the frequent, comprehensive trams makes exploration a pleasure. Overall, a truly special place.

No idee , we had a bad hotel. we had lunch there and there was a protest regarding the Palestine situation ongoing. Not good in this case because of bad timing. But as all France big city's you really have to like the multicultural situation and bad hygiene in France!

Newly renovated room with mini kitchen, it had only been open for 2 weeks when I visited. If you think about what it costs along the French Riviera on holiday, this was a fantastic option for me. Great garden where you could read a book or have breakfast. Secure parking in the basement, at a reasonable price. Short walk to supermarket which was useful as the area itself is run down and I felt unsafe when it was dark. Some fast food/small local cafes are around but were not my style.

Friendly staff. Great old style decor: curtains with a pattern that looks like snake scales; wallpaper with designs that look like birds; the entrance is nice and has a red wall. A super plus: 2 bottle of water for free 🙂 The bathroom is excellent. Great location, but be aware of the homeless people everywhere in the center of Montpellier (in particular, they are camped by the bank next to the hotel, and when I returned in the evening, I got scared as they come close asking for cash).

Everything was perfect! The owners/staff are beyond kind - they were very considerate of our toddler, so that was much appreciated. The breakfast is excellent, the property is very nice, very clean. We also had very delicious dinners at the villa. It is all even better than what you see in the photos! It is very close to the airport, not far from the centre of Montpellier or from the beach towns.

It can be ,I don't like this, but once you get settled in and use the location it's great. Tram outside door 12 mins to centre run every 15 mins. Sunday everything local closed. But easy to get around if in a car. I would stay again, its not a great hotel, but if your want to get around montpellier this cheap and really value for money.

Fantastic stay. Perfectly located and the room has everything you need for a short stay in Montpellier. I stayed in this hotel to take part in the semi-marathon, and you can’t go wrong in terms of location, literally 3 minutes away from the depart / end of the race.

Really good hotel located close to the city centre. The room facilities offer a big toilet, kitchen area, big TV screen and big and comfortable bed. I would suggest this hotel to everyone who wants to spend couple of days in Montpellier. Great value for money.
