Montreuil is a historic, walled town with a large central square and picturesque cobbled streets. The walk around the walls is well worth the time, and wandering the streets is very rewarding. It's a proper local small town, busy with real life, there are many little restaurants and cafes, shops and fascinating old and new French architecture. Lovely town to walk around and views from the ramparts. Not aware beforehand that entry to the Citadel was not free , nor the closing time - we only arrived shortly before closure (5pm), so didn't want to pay the fee for only the last 10 minutes.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
A perfect destination for a short break or weekend.
A perfect destination for a short break or weekend. About 90 minutes from the Channel Tunnel, makes it an easy journey from the UK. Lots of very good restaurants and a nice market to visit on a Saturday. Excellent parking facilities which makes the whole town very accessible. We didn't have as much time to wander around as last year. However the town has some lovely historic buildings and pretty squares and you can wander around the old citadelle. Unlike many French towns we have visited we were pleased to see that some of the tattier buildings have been renovated or are being renovated.Guest review byHelen

The room was very comfortable - and Lydie very kindly provided a cot and changing mat for our baby. And breakfast was delicious - they were even able to serve it to us early as we needed to leave at 7:30an to catch our train. The centre of Montreuil sur Mer is only 10 minutes away, full of lovely restaurants, bars and shops.
