The hotel is about half an hour from Plymouth and is an ideal place for an overnight stop before catching the ferry to Santander. However it is surrounded by countryside although situated just off the main road. Other travellers staying were exploring the Dartmoor countryside either on bikes or walking. The staff were very personable and attentive. We had an exceptional meal in the restaurant at night. The breakfast was good and our room was compact but adequate. Near to Buckfast Abbey which is well worth a visit and has undergone a thorough restoration. On the very edge of Dartmoor and all the beautiful scenery and walks that it has to offer. Easy access to Plymouth via A38. There is a steam train in Buckfastleigh that runs to Totnes where you can get a boat to Dartmouth.
