A very scenic town centre. A good supermarket and several specialist shops (bookshop especially) . just try and avoid the sweetshop (far too tempting) Several nice restaurants and an excellent fish and chip shop. Ballater is a lovely village.
Ballater is a lovely village. Very clean and tidy as you would expect being so close to Balmoral Castle. Beautiful hanging baskets outside the shops Plenty of cafes and gift shops. Lovely village green around the Church in the centre of Ballater with seating areas . Free car park and free parking around the Church. Lovely village to visit or stay. It has been the most wonderful and comfortable place we have stayed in on our trip we had been away for 4 weeks and this place by far the very best. Homemade cakes and a great breakfast. We have absolutely fallen in love with Ballater and the tiny house! We travelled with our dog, the area was very dog friendly and the people of Ballater were so friendly and welcoming! We have travelled lots of places in Scotland but this is our new favourite. The owners were very helpful and kept in great contact about the booking and facilities.
