Beautiful location, courtyard, and interiors, with added little attentive touches here and there that made our children feel extra welcome. Staff was some of the most natural and helpful we’ve had the pleasure of interacting with in a while, too.

Another great stay at this hotel over the Xmas period. I was here at the same time in 2023, and everything was as good as before. Staff are excellent, friendly and efficient, and the central location is perfect for going out in the city. Room is very clean and quiet, and bed is comfortable: I slept soundly. The stay included the added bonus of a complementary cheese and wine buffet, much appreciated. All these factors made my stay very enjoyable and excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Remains and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage-listed Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the River Avon overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-levelled Pulteney Weir and Grade I-listed Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options are the Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and high street stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath accommodation, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

    Bath needs to be walked.

Bath needs to be walked. Two days should be enough for the town proper, but it also is the jumping off point for Stonehenge and the Cotswolds. We were there six days, just about right to regenerate from the long flight from the States and see the sights/sites.

Bath is superb for history from Roman time forward, easy to walk around and many historic buildings to visit. Many independent shops, cafes and restaurants in quaint streets. Everything very easy to walk to from Abbey to Royal Crescent. Bath also has many parks to walk and relax in near the centre. Every square had an artist performing, it was very lively and friendly. Rugby is a hot topic in Bath and the pitch is central to everything. Good bus and rail links.

Our primary reason for visiting Bath was to see friends and family so we didnt spend time in the town. Traffic is heavy and any vehicular journey appeared slow. The Canal-side walks were good and very pleasant in the sun

love BATH - it is a fabulous city to visit...strongly advise booking for the Baths in advance and we also booked a tour which was great. Also like the open air bus which I do wherever we go. We ate at Sotto Sotto which was very good. Enjoyed it all especially as the autumn colours were so glorious.

Beautiful city – two nights just wasn’t enough! We stayed central, and everything was within walking distance. We loved our time in Bath: relaxing at the Thermae Spa, exploring the Roman Baths, taking a boat ride from near Pulteney Bridge, and visiting the iconic crescent. There’s a fantastic range of shops and a lovely market to wander through, plus so many great places to eat. A highlight was The Raven – amazing pie and mash! We’ll definitely be back.

What a wonderful, quirky little hotel! Absolutely loved it! The owner was so lovely and really welcoming. Our room was incredible! Enormous four poster bed which was super comfy .. the decor was delightful and spotlessly clean. Beautiful bathroom with full size toiletries which was lovely. Lots of complimentary drinks and snacks which was a lovely touch. The bus stop to the city centre was just a couple of minutes walk away … the perfect location. We will definitely stay again!

We had an amazing weekend in Bath and The Dukes hotel was excellent . Our room was beautiful and spacious and very clean. The hotel was in a prefect location, only a 5 minute walk into the centre of Bath, but far enough away for a peaceful nights sleep. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were friendly and very helpful. We will definitely be returning to this hotel again in the future.
