FAQs about hotels in Birmingham

First-class Shopping, Culture and Sports

The UK's 2nd largest city, Birmingham is one of its top cultural centers. Well-known for its M6 Spaghetti Junction interchange, it's also a surprisingly green city with lots of open spaces.

Most city center hotels in Birmingham are near New Street Station. To the east is the futuristic architecture of the new Bull Ring shopping center, and behind that is Digbeth Bus Station. To the west is Victoria Square, home of the town hall and a German Christmas Market.

The Mailbox is one of the newest additions to the Birmingham shopping scene, and behind it is one of the canals converging on the Gas Street Basin. By one canal are the ICC (International Convention Center) and the NIA (National Indoor Arena), both venues that host major events.

Just across the street is Brindleyplace, a canal-front complex of restaurants, bars and hotels near Broad Street – the main nightlife area. It is popular with students at nearby Birmingham University, whose clock tower is modeled on the one in Siena. Just south in Bournville is Cadbury World, and there are several hotels on Hagley Road to the north, which are available on Booking.com.

The city is also known for sports – Aston Villa and Birmingham City are the top soccer clubs, while Edgbaston Cricket Ground hosts international matches. Other Birmingham attractions include Hockley’s Jewellery Quarter and the NEC arena by Birmingham International Airport.

I have been to Birmingham many times and always feel comfortable there. The people have always been friendly and helpful. It is an easy city to walk around and there is also a very good tram system. The big improvement came when changes to the city centre were made for the Commonwealth Games held here a few years ago. There is a very good selection of restaurants, particularly along the canal and The Mailbox area.

Birmingham is a 4-university town so there's a good range of diversity and acceptance of such. Also - lots of variety in what's available to do, eat and see at a wide £££ range of budgets. It's easy to walk and lots of pedestrian areas

    Birmingham a complete dump.

Birmingham a complete dump. Never been before and will certainly never go again. Rubbish everywhere. Road signs suggested very unpleasant goings on. A real eye opener and sad to see in our country such a mess.

Birmingham is a lovely place to stay.

Birmingham is a lovely place to stay. So vibrant with lots to see and do. It also is easy access to other places. We found people helpful and friendly. We had a meal at Lost and found. Wonderful place delicious food and attentive staff. We also went to see a show the Body Guard which was wonderful and made for the perfect evening. The trams are a great way to get around and stopped so close to our hotel we had no fear of being out late.

We were positively impressed with Birmingham.

We were positively impressed with Birmingham. It was clean (we had been expecting a lot of rubbish due to the recent strikes) and many new buildings. Great use has been made of the canals and surrounding areas. Some great places to eat within easy walking distance and some interesting places to visit, such as the Coffin Museum.

    Cosmopolitan, but really friendly.

Cosmopolitan, but really friendly. Lots of interesting places to visit - notably the Jewellery Quarter Museum (take the tram) and the Back2Backs Museum (by Chinatown). Obviously, fantastic shopping in the Bullring and many other shopping centres etc and the Gas Street Canal area was interesting (probably even more so at night when it really comes alive!). With the recent death of Ozzy Osborne (Black Sabbath) there's plenty of 'memorials' to him currently. If historical and cultural buildings are 'your thing' then there's plenty to see and do. We were surprised by the significant amount of 'open spaces' for the residents/workers of Birmingham to relax in the centre of the City. Don't overlook Birmingham as a city centre destination!

The hotel is very conveniently placed, close to Birmingham City Centre and within walking distance of the local tram stop. The hotel is a little dated, but it is a pleasant place to stay and has a certain charm about it. The staff were helpful and the facilities were good. We really enjoyed breakfast and found the room to be comfortable.

The hotels location was brilliant, right in the middle of city centre. The NCP car park was quite expensive £24 for less than 24 hours, but to be expected being in the centre of Birmingham. Unfortunately the location was all we liked during our stay. The staff were all friendly.

The hotel is an excellent location for the City. breakfast was very good (the toast could be less like bread and more like toast). The staff are very friendly and professional. We would always recommend your hotel to people visiting Birmingham City centre.
