It's a lovely town. Plenty of open space and parks.
It's a lovely town. Plenty of open space and parks. Good walks; wide streets, lots of trees and park areas. Surrounding area is picturesque. Architecture is interesting.Wide variety of eateries. Bus tour would have been better with a commentary (like Bath, Oxford & York). Town is much larger than 20 years ago. Road closures caused by roadworks were a pain but a great place to visit with lots going on throughout the year. Uplifting and vibrant.Treat yourself. We only stayed for one night in Cheltenham at the Rising Sun Hotel. The hotel is outside of Cheltenham. However, the location of the hotel above Cheltenham was ideal for walking. Right behind the Hotel was Cleeve Common and Cleeve Hill, which had many footpaths to choose from. The views from the Common were fantastic. We had a wonderful stay at Primrose Cottage in Cheltenham. The cottage was charming, clean, and well-equipped, making it a very comfortable base for our trip. Every day, we enjoyed exploring the beautiful surrounding villages, each one had its own unique charm and character. The location was perfect for day trips, and we truly appreciated the peaceful countryside atmosphere. Plenty of alfresco cafes open in the summer. The High Street retains some quality shops although a few have closed down. Easy to visit surrounding villages and the M5. Very well maintained and clean, the stuff was always smiling and available to help at all time. Our room was on the top floor with a back garden view and I have to say it was very quiet and cosy. As we have mentioned at the time of booking that the trip was for our anniversary, they also prepared the room with a small surprise!
