Cleethorpes is what Hove is to Brighton.

Cleethorpes is what Hove is to Brighton. Grimsby Town next door is ripe for revival but restoration of Cleethorpes has already started with heritage projects, smart independent shops and good restaurants. Sea View Street, near the Life Boat Station is an example of progress. The separate High Street has everything you need for stays, big brands and lots of local cafes. The area is being funded by current Community Arts Projects and will continue to do so in 2026. I was surprised by its cleanliness, peace and quiet in September, though summer time is obviously very busy. Only 3 hours from London by train, it makes a good break to catch Humberside at its finest.

Cleethorpes is our go to holiday destination to keep the kids (5+10) entertained for days on end. The road train and the little steam trains are a highlight for the kids. The paddling pool is also very nice for when the tide if too far out and the kids can play there for hours. Feeding the ducks and playing in the giant sand pit playground is also great. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants around town as well as fast food restaurants. The buses are useful and frequent if you need to get from one side of town to the other.

We expected Cleethorpes to be slightly upmarket with nice cafes and restaurants. We did NOT expect Cleethorpes to be run down worse than Blackpool. It was very very busy with the overweight and tattooed masses which was surprising because there was very little to actually do. It was sad to see so many shuttered and closed businesses but all the chippies had queues outside It needs a good clean and a few coats of paint. NO we would NOT recommend Cleethorpes

Cleethorpes is a lovely seaside town.

Cleethorpes is a lovely seaside town. Lots of teens by the beach but none of them cause an issue. Loads to do. We have family there who moved ans settled a few years ago. We love visiting them as there is so much to do.

I've not been to cleethorpes since I was a child and now I've returned with my children and will be returning again.. If you get the weather on your side you'll have a lovely time 🌞 We visited the leisure centre, ate food from the food stalls along the sea front, ate fish and chips in papas on the pier, played in the amusements and had doughnuts and ice cream from Julie's in the sea front and love it all! ♥️

The apartment was spotlessly clean with fresh looking decor. The kitchen is a good size with plenty of appliances and utensils. Very comfortable, full sized apartment. Felt very homely. The owner messaged us several times to ensure all was ok. There is plenty of parking. It's a fifteen minute walk to the seafront and a bus stop outside with buses about every ten minutes in the day. We've booked apartments before where the photo's flattered. This apartment was as described and the photos accurate. We will definately stay again.
