Guildford is a lovely town with decent size and has everything there, but shops tend to close early. After 5pm downtown is quiet for most of the days. I enjoy staying there for 4-5 days, if longer than this it will be too boring. Not much can you do in Guildford. Quiet town - shops close at 5pm daily except maybe on Thursday for late night shopping. The Friary Shopping Mall was convenient. The bus services - bus station was also near the Friary and the buses were regular. Between 9 and 9:30pm we got an email saying if we arrive after 10:30pm we need to advise them. We did not see it as we were in the car. We arrived at 10:55; the pub, the hotel were all closed and there was no staff, no reply to knocking on the door, no reply to telephone.
