This is my hometown and I'd brought some friends up from Bristol to do a tour of Scotland starting from here. They found the scenery to be amazing. The town has Rennie Macintosh, Hill House to visit and has also got a lovely promenade to walk and look out on the Firth of Clyde. It's ideally positioned as it has 2 train stations, the lower one to Glasgow/ Edinburgh and the upper one for the West Highland railway. Driving as we were, you are only over the hill to Loch Lomond, The Trossachs, the Highlands or Stirling and Falkirk beyond. Or head up Loch Long, The Rest and Be Thankful to Inverary and the west coast and Highlands. There are good local restaurants to eat at and of course Dino's ice cream!

    Lovely place to visit.

Lovely place to visit. The civic centre was great with a lovely cafe with great food. We ate at an Indian restaurant on the seafront which was great value for money and lovely food. We also had tea and cake at the sugar boat which was nice. We drove around by car which was fine. We also used the taxi service which was good value for money and efficient.

Lovely quiet market town on the edge of Loch Lomond and within 45 minutes, you are in the centre of Glasgow. Plenty of bars and restaurants all surrounding the central square. Frequent bus and train services across many parts of Scotland.

I had two very good evening meals at La Barca Spanish Tapas & Wine Bar, you'll probably need to book your table and I had an excellent Cullen Skink lunch at the Riva Boutiique Hotel. I found Helensburgh a very good base for touring round a most beautiful part of Scotland.

I wish I could have stayed longer. Helensburgh seems to be a wonderful place. I will definitely come back and stay at the 20 Boutique hotel and visit the architectural museum, walk in the beach and discover more of this little city.

What I liked most about Helensburgh was its peaceful atmosphere and stunning views of the Clyde, especially during early morning walks along the waterfront. The town has a charming, laid-back vibe, and its proximity to both nature and nearby attractions made it a perfect base for exploring. However, I found the dining options a bit limited, especially for late-night meals. Still, the overall experience more than made up for those minor inconveniences.

The location is breathtaking, just outside of Helensburgh. The garden is fantastic, with pheasants en peacocks walking around. The kids loved the whirlpool and the adults enjoyed using the sauna and cooling in the creek behind the house. Julie & Mac are excellent hosts, so kind, and always willing to help. Everything you need is there.

Superb accomodation close to Helensburgh waterfront and town centre. The bungalow was spaceous, had a well equiped kitchen and comfy beds. Lounge area was nice and cosy and the fireplace was such a great addition. The owners greeted us and were at disposal for any questions. Communication was super easy.
