It was a stopover for us. If I had known more about the region we would have orranged an extra night. We did do a tour of the Dalwhinnie Distillery on our way south which was great. Make a booking - we were lucky as we hadn't made a one but there was two extra spots. Loved the Duke of Gordon hotel. So very old school and so beautiful. Kingussie is a beautiful town, brilliantly located in the middle of Scotland, within reach of many wonderful sites of interest, including historic Ruthven Barracks, a number of castles and gardens, the stunning Cairngorms, and much more. Kingussie is a lovely little town in a beautiful setting in the Scottish Highlands. Beware, most cafes and shops are closed on Sundays and some on Mondays too! We ate at The Star Hotel which has friendly staff, good food and is very popular with locals and holidaymakers alike. Not a place I have thought of staying before but it was a lovely but short stay. Everything was above what we expected and we could have stayed longer and ventured to other areas close by and probably will stay again.
