Victorian Resort with a Welsh Twist
The most popular Wales seaside resort, Llandudno covers a peninsula with 2 sandy coastlines. The North Shore’s wide Victorian promenade is lined with period buildings which now house seafront hotels and guest houses. The beach itself stretches all the way between the Little Orme and Great Orme headlands, passing an outdoor swimming pool.
A historic tram climbs to the peak of Great Orme, where Bronze Age copper mines can be visited. The top is also reachable by cable car from Happy Valley, a recreation area with gardens and an artificial ski slope.
A road runs around the base of the headland passing the historic Grand Hotel, a property available on Booking.com and overlooking the Grade II-listed pier – the longest in Wales. The West Shore is much less developed and the Maesdu Golf Course forms most of its shoreline.
Of course, Llandudno has its fair share of traditional seaside pursuits such as donkey rides and fish and chip shops.
The town also has a modern retail park near the train station and Venue Cymru event centre, and wrought-iron canopies shade smaller shops along Mostyn Avenue, Broadway and Street. The latter - Mostyn Street - is effectively the high street and becomes brightly decorated during the Victorian carnival in May.

Llandudno is a pleasant coastal town with a well looked after Pier and amusement arcades and souvenir shops. There is a good seafront promenade with a pebble beach and sandy beaches on the south shore. The views from the summit of the Great Orme which can be reached by; Foot, Road, Funicular Tram and Cable Car, as well as a bus service, are spectacular. All good loved the performances on the Band Stand, beautiful traditional seaside town, well served shopping area and plenty of bars and restaurants. Excellent for families and visitors of all ages. I have mobility difficulties, so hired a scooter from on line local company, it was delivered to the hotel and collected when we left, great fun, so handy and £25 for 24 hours. So much to do for all ages.
So much to do for all ages. The ski centre, the tram up the great orme. The best high street we've seen in years, could have spent a full day just walking that. Interesting pubs, axe throwing and magic to name a couple. Some fabulous food places. But best of all never once feeling ripped off, prices were within reach. Cottage loaf great gastro pub. Bed very comfortable and the bedroom is a great size. We were able to park directly outside the apartment which was helpful. Communication from the owner was good with any questions answered promptly.
