Great place to take a break when you are visiting the Highlands and Islands! Mallaig is a port town and a gateway to do many other places. The accommodation at An Bothan was excellent. Home from home with so many special touches from the owners to make the stay even more comfortable. Mallaig is a small port town with an interesting history.
Mallaig is a small port town with an interesting history. The Mallaig Historical Centre is worth a visit to learn about the story and people behind the town. There are quite a few fabulous cafes and restaurants specialising in fresh fish and home baking. Mallaig is an active, attractive, village with trains from Fort William and ferries out to the islands and other peninsulas. There are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants with hotels and B&Bs. I felt that everyone we came across was out to give us a wonderful holiday. The Bake house is a must . Their Portuguese tarts and pecan/ maple buns are delicious. It states in the guest information it is not a 5 star hotel but it is 1st Class accommodation and we would highly recommend. The welcome pack was amazing as were the fresh croissants each morning. Stanislaw is a wonderful, thoughtful and kind host, it was an absolute pleasure to stay there and will happily return. The Cornerstone has two rooms and a common space. The place is clean and I particularly loved the room we had because it felt cozy, even if it wasn't big.
