In the 70's Margate/Cliftonville was fabulous a hive of activity...the beaches was jam packed with people...the high street was fabulous..but now high street has hardly anything shops a lady stopped me to ask where the high street was...I said your in it...! Very sad looking area now... Where the pier used to be there's now some awful modern monstrosity of a building looking like metal huge boxes...supposedly an art gallery I heard...really awful looking 😖 Around to Cliftonville the Winter gardens looked derelict as well as the Lido area...and the Llidoo swimming pool was filled in with cement donkeys years ago and the walls of pool are now falling into the sea..sad!...when I think back how these places was a hive off activity and all guest houses packed...now your hard pushed to find one...but i did and it was great

We had a lovely time and found lovely places to eat.

We had a lovely time and found lovely places to eat. They catered for our special needs of glutton free for us all. Lafayette's food lovely and all welcoming and helping to give us the correct food for our particular needs which are many. Nothing was too much trouble. In really nice surroundings so went there three times in two days. Enjoyed going to the Shell Grotto very interesting and the Crab Museum great for the kiddies.

    We come every year

We come every year Not a shopping place if wanting big name stores . The town is small and easy to access. Lovely main sands and small bit of beach near the flat was nice and tidal pool easy to access We ate at mechanical elephant and Peter fish and chips. Margatevis easy to access 8 had no young children but we have accessed the escape rooms shell grotto chalk caves and Walpole Bay hotel for cream teas . We were able to get a none bus to Canterbury from right outside the flat .

I had heard it was up-and-coming.

I had heard it was up-and-coming. With money spent on it it could be a beautiful Victorian seaside resort. The Old Town was interesting and with lovely shops and eateries. We loved the coastline. Great Viking walking trail. The Turner Contemporary was lovely. The Opex Gardens were excellent - with a garden centre and many activities for families. Some nice surrounding places to visit were Deal and Walmer, Sandwich and Canterbury. I believe Minnis Bay coast is very attractive. There was an interesting Nature park near Birchington.

Margate is abit rundown in places but the old town was great and restaurants we enjoyed especially GB Pizza co it was on the seafront and we could sit outside in the evening. Dreamland is getting better there are alot of rides there especially for kids. A good traditional seaside town and lots of things to do in easy walking distance. The beach is great.

Margate is a very tatty and tacky seaside town.

Margate is a very tatty and tacky seaside town. Its centre by the pleasant sandy beach is an eyesore of casinos and abandoned buildings. Judging by the number of police cars on a Friday night it must have more than its fair share of crime. The Turner museum was a disappointment, having only a single Turner painting along with some modern art that was underwhelming. Clearly its heyday was 200 years ago as it is now utterly charmless.

We live in Margate but stayed here as a birthday treat. The hotel exceeded expectations. I loved all the little touches like the record player in the room, the cocktails and glasses in the mini fridge and the toiletries were luxurious. The shower was amazing! It’s a beautiful hotel and if you’re visiting Margate I’d recommend eating at the restaurant and enjoying the rooftop bar while you’re here too.

The location is great with the most wonderful view across Margate Sands. Probably can’t be beat. Very convenient for going to the Turner gallery and all of the local sites. Very friendly and helpful owner, who provide a lot of local information. It is newly developed and there’s been very tastefully put together and makes great use of not a very large space.

The hotel is full of old time lived in charm, it's warm inviting and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. We sat in the lounge bar all evening, with our books and chatted to other guest. Breakfast was excellent. There is on street parking or a hotel parking area. We had beautiful views over Margate from our balcony room.

We were in Margate for 1 night and wanted a central location with parking nearby, so this hotel met that requirement. Windows opened and it was quiet. The bedding was fresh and room superficially clean

A quirky hotel with a home-like feel. It's in the most fantastic location for exploring Margate's Old Town.
