Superb, friendly unpretentious country hotel in beautiful location. So good to be able to open the windows and listen to the birds singing. Great place to take the dog - very relaxed and wonderful walks on the doorstep. Staff hugely knowledgeable about the area and nothing is too much trouble!

We stayed at the black swan for 3 nights and used it as a base to travel out around the Lake District. Steve and Jacky were very welcoming and there was always laughing and joy in the air. It has a really homely feel to it throughout our stay. The rooms are lovely and have everything you would need, the bed was very comfortable after long walks and activities. The breakfast was amazing and a perfect start to an active day. A superb place to stay, relax and enjoy everything the Lake District has to offer. Thank you Jacky & Steve

From the moment we arrived at Alocin Cottage, it felt like stepping into a slice of rural paradise. This spacious three-bedroom home is pet- and family-friendly, with two bathrooms, a cozy living area complete with a fireplace and sofa bed, and a spotless, well-equipped kitchen. We absolutely loved evenings relaxing in the wood-fired hot tub under the stars, and the on-site bar and BBQ made casual meals a breeze. The property offers thoughtful conveniences like free parking, fast Wi-Fi, and even an EV charging station. Despite being quiet and secluded, it’s just minutes from a local bakery.

We enjoyed everything about the cottage. The kitchen and bathroom are so high spec and well equipped. There is nothing else you could possibly need. Very clean. Warm and cozy. Wound definitely visit again! Peaceful and quiet location. Lovely relaxing break, ideal for couples.
