Beautifully-designed and spacious room. Don’t think I’ve ever stayed in a room with that much attention to detail when it came to the interior design. Comfy bed and an easy to operate restroom with a shower.

The manor suite room was very nice. It was large and had a super comfortable bed, a large walk-in shower, and very importantly, air conditioning! Breakfast was good and filling. The entire hotel and golf course staff was fantastic - friendly and helpful. The golf course had a great layout and interesting holes (it was in bad shape due to the extended drought, but in normal times I’m sure it’s fantastic).

FAQs about hotels in Reading

Work and Play Beside the Thames

At the meeting point of the Thames and Kennet rivers, affluent Reading is close to London, yet far enough to feel completely different. For this reason it is an important business hub, particularly for IT. The M4 motorway runs directly from here to Heathrow Airport, and trains from its station terminate at Paddington.

The town has literary connections to Jane Austen – whose school was in the Abbey Gateway – and Oscar Wilde, who was imprisoned in its jail. Nowadays, the Reading Festival is its biggest cultural event and has earned a place in the town hall museum. However, its most impressive exhibit is a replica of the Bayeux Tapestry.

The Reading shopping options include Broad Street and The Oracle, a riverside complex also housing bars, cinemas and restaurants. The river continues south to one of the town’s green spaces, some housing golf courses. Forbury Gardens features a bandstand and large lion statue, and next door are ruins of an abbey founded by Henry I.

Potential day trips include the Roman remains at Silchester, and river cruises to Henley-on-Thames, while sport lovers should visit the Madejski Stadium, home of Reading FC and London Irish rugby club.

Booking.com’s Reading accommodation includes hotels with spas, cheap apartments and guest houses with parking.

    We didn't visit Reading.

We didn't visit Reading. We went a day before and a night after to Hanley-on-Thames with children. It was hardly 20-25 minutes drive and it was great outdoor activities combo area with various playground/ bouncy castle and riverside walk, various options available for boat hiring/ boat trips. Parking is quite tight in later hours of day, so I recommend if anyone like to visit here, try to reach in first half otherwise all two car parks get full too soon.

This trip was a trip down memory lane as I was a student on Randolph-Macon Woman's College program at the University of Reading, 1975-76. I was last in Reading, July 2001. The University has obviously grown & changed, but the neighborhood around the Whiteknights Gate remains somewhat the same. Shout out to The Three Tuns, where the RMWC girls frequented. The historical sites in Reading are well worth exploring as are the surrounding areas, such as Sonning, Woking.

    Nice quiet town.

Nice quiet town. Only about 25 minutes away from London by train. If London is too busy, noisy or crowded for you but want a base that's not too far, then Reading is perfect in my view. We went during the last 10 days of July and we found London a lot warmer than Reading which had more decent temperatures throughout our stay.

Walking from Reading Bridge to Horseshoe Bridge and then along the Kennet to the Oracle is lovely. The Oracle itself has a large array of shops and eateries. The buses are frequent and easily identified.

A few hours in the Reading Museum made it well worth going to Reading - especially for the Bayeux Tapestry Copy which was fascinating and very well presented. Other items in the museum were very interesting also.

The hotel is BEAUTIFUL, both outside and inside. Very old school atmosphere, classic with some happy modern elements. The most beautiful I've ever seen, for my tastes. Please, keep it like this forever. It's literally at 3minutes walk from the Reading centre and very easy to go to the train station by walk. Maybe less than 10 minutes

This hotel has some of the most beautifully decorated bedrooms. The rooms are cosy and comfortable with wonderful en-suite facilities. The location of the hotel is excellent close to the centre of Reading but the rooms are quiet considering the proximity to the town. The staff are always professional, helpful and friendly.

This is a great studio room, and was ideal for our 2 night stay. It is basically a hotel room with a few extras included. Comfortable and clean, and a good price. Easy to find in a good location short walk from the town centre. ( ... and The Castle Tap pub is a great place to stop for a drink on the way back ! )
