Calder House Hotel looked to have great views out to sea...

Calder House Hotel looked to have great views out to sea with a fabulous beach. We experienced a tired run down establishment with a ‘couldn’t be bothered’ staff attitude. Dismissive and inattentive, we would never go back.

Great food in terms of quantity and quality, friendly and helpful staff, and a spacious room with a lovely view of the sea and beach. We travelled to various parts of Cumbria each day of our stay to make the most of the time we had there.

Nice small town, don't expect many shops or cafes/restaurants. The Seaside was very beautiful, easy to walk, with beautiful scenery, golden sand and big rocks. Keep in mind it looks like it's always windy there.

The seaview from my room was amazing, the room itself is very well furnished and clean. Seascale is quite a secluded place, so this is not a spot where you will find a lot of activities, but the train station is only 10min walk from the hotel, and I had all that I needed around + of course really nice walks along the coast. Loreta is very friendly and answered all my questions also on whatsapp, this is a place where you feel safe.

The room had been recently decorated, lovely big bay window overlooking sea/beach. All of the staff were lovely and very friendly. Great breakfast, put on very early due to a cycling event, we have never stayed at a hotel that had done this before and we really appreciated it. Beach/sea just over the road. Plenty of parking available at the back of the hotel.

Suuuper clean, really nice room, comfy bed, great kitchen with all the necessary equipment and super quiet place - it felt like we were alone in the hotel. The location is also good. About 20-30 min by car to Scafell Pike and surrounded by beautiful roads!
