Great location to visit places of interest.

Great location to visit places of interest. Lots to see in the area i.e. Sutton Hoo; Orford Castle. If we had more time, we would have liked to visit Snape Maltings; Orford Ness; Thorpeness; Leiston Abbey. All within easy reach from Snape. We wanted a seafood supper on one of our nights. So, we booked a table at the Regatta Restaurant in Aldeburgh. The restaurant gets very busy - so, do book in advance. The food was lovely and the service was good. A little bit pricey - but, it was a treat. If you like seafood - you might like to make a visit to Orford (Pinneys of Orford; Butley Orford Oysterage). There is also fresh fish and shellfish on sale at Aldeburgh and smoke huts.

It is located ideally to visit Snape Maltings, walk by the river and visit many places. We like to go to Thorpeness, Aldeburgh and Sizewell beaches. The fish and chips at Aldeburgh is very good and there are lots of places to buy fresh fish, crabs etc along the front. A walk between Aldeburgh and Thorpeness is exhilarating and a boat on the meare is fun.

I thought Snape being a Village had shops and pubs but only shop needed a car and was a petrol station and Maltings although nice - very expensive and you had to walk 20 mins on a dangerous busy road to get to! Did go to Aldeburgh for the day which was nice.

My wife and I mainly stay in snape for walking and there are plenty of footpaths locally that dont involve a drive, especially all or part of the sailors path and across snape warren nature resrve to the Maltings. From the Maltings there are walks to Iken church and Tunstall forest. A short drive to Aldeburgh and there are several walks such as along the beach to thorpeness and return along the disused railway line.
