Dinner was like from a picture book! I find it really tacky when people take smartphone pictures of their dinner in a restaurant but I made sure no one was looking at me when I did just that because my dinner looked just superb and tasted equally great. Service was also perfect. This is a hotel I would highly recommend!!

The Stonehouse Hotel was a sight for sore eyes, (a pleasant surprise) after walking 5 1/2 hours on the Costwold Way. We loved the hotel, the grounds and our room. We also found the staff, specifically the young man checking us in (sorry didn't catch his name), a waitress named Asuka, and the bartender Yaughtski. Hopefully we spelled that right. Lol. Yaughtski without a doubt made our stay welcoming and fun.

Best nights sleep in a long time. We booked this hotel at the last minute. All the staff were friendly and attentive, the food in the restaurant was great, the bed was large and very comfy and the room was quiet. Breakfast was huge and the grilled bacon was particularly delicious 😋. All in all this was a great hotel and I'd really recommend it to anyone passing through Stroud. Shout out to the manager for being awesome and Ash for his great dinner service and wicked highballs! 10/10 would definitely stay again.

A stunning place to relax and unwind with such charm and character throughout the property. We loved the layout of the property - being an 'upside down' layout with the sitting room and kitchen upstairs allowing views out onto the beautiful gardens and woodland. Our host, Hilary, who we didn't actually meet - but always quick to respond on the two occasions that I needed to make contact - was very kind and made us feel most welcome. With the woodburner and Christmas tree 🎄 in the sitting room, this made for a very comfortable and cosy stay.

Stroud is a town with plenty of character.

Stroud is a town with plenty of character. There are many independent shops and alternative lifestyles are welcome. There are many coffee shops and restaurants. We especially enjoyed The Curio restaurant, King St, Woodruffs coffee shop and Rajat Indian restaurant. We walked along the canal to Stroud Brewery which has a good bar and restaurant. That was an easy walk. We walked up Swifts Hill, Slad Valley and had a drink in the Woolpack, not so easy but very enjoyable. This is a must for fans of Laurie Lee's books.

Stroud was not the focus of our trip, but since you ask I'd say that its former condition was probably rather better than its current condition. It doesn't do well when compared with Cirencester which really is a town worth visiting. Stroud is pleasant enough and good for shopping. Traffic is reasonable

Lovely places to eat - lovely country views - travelled by bicycle. Lots of hills so at times you have to walk it but we enjoyed ourselves. Travelled by train would recommend making reservations for your bicycles. Ate at Egypt Mill, Casa Sabor and The Bear at Rodborough and loved the food at the Five Valleys. Recommend the Ice Cream shop called Whinstones which has been there for 100 years.

Lovely room. Beautiful view. Quality bedding, towels and toiletries. Excellent quality complimentary teas, coffee and water... (oooh and biscuits), replenished daily. Fantastic location for views, and for walks right from the door of the hotel(ideal for dog owners). Stroud/supermarket only 5 mins away. Quiet. Great breakfasts(even for dogs). The Clothiers is just a 5 minute walk into Stroud and close to the railway station, Cheltenham and Gloucester are within easy reach for eating out and shopping. Great canal walks in both directions and if you're feeling fit you can get to Stroud Brewery just 45 mins or so along the canal from the town. The canal museum, sounds quite boring but the volunteer staff there are brilliant and have a wealth of knowledge about local walks and the history of the area.
