The rooms are really spacious and the location is right in the middle of Stroud. It is about a 5-10 minute walk to anywhere in town. It’s very close to large supermarkets and all the pubs in town. We really enjoyed the food at the bar/restaurant as well. The rooms are very clean and well kept, we visited during December and the rooms were very warm and cozy! Would highly recommend this to any couples or families coming in town!

Stroud is a town with plenty of character.

Stroud is a town with plenty of character. There are many independent shops and alternative lifestyles are welcome. There are many coffee shops and restaurants. We especially enjoyed The Curio restaurant, King St, Woodruffs coffee shop and Rajat Indian restaurant. We walked along the canal to Stroud Brewery which has a good bar and restaurant. That was an easy walk. We walked up Swifts Hill, Slad Valley and had a drink in the Woolpack, not so easy but very enjoyable. This is a must for fans of Laurie Lee's books.

Stroud was not the focus of our trip, but since you ask I'd say that its former condition was probably rather better than its current condition. It doesn't do well when compared with Cirencester which really is a town worth visiting. Stroud is pleasant enough and good for shopping. Traffic is reasonable

Lovely places to eat - lovely country views - travelled by bicycle. Lots of hills so at times you have to walk it but we enjoyed ourselves. Travelled by train would recommend making reservations for your bicycles. Ate at Egypt Mill, Casa Sabor and The Bear at Rodborough and loved the food at the Five Valleys. Recommend the Ice Cream shop called Whinstones which has been there for 100 years.

The meals here were all very good. We were late arriving but there was still food available and we enjoyed a lovely roast and a fish meal. The following morning we had their breakfast which was cooked to order and set us up for the day. It was a one night stay but we would recommend the hotel and it was in a lovely area to explore. Hope to return.

A friendly hotel in an attractive setting and grounds just by the Cotswold canal. Making an effort to be green. Parking, outside seating area for drinks, on-site restaurant with good food. Not far from M5 which is why we chose it as a break on a long journey but would go back again anyway if in the area.
