We loved Agios Nicolaos.
We loved Agios Nicolaos. It’s a bustling port town but still small enough around the port area to be lovely. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from. Awesome beaches, loved the Kimzu beach club and the cute cafe with amazing views next to Votsalo beach. From Almyros beach you can walk to the end of the beach and join a footpath which leads you straight into town. About a 20 minute walk to centre where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. Fantastic restaurants and cocktail / wine bars, most doing traditional Greek cuisine. Great location (10-15 walk to the city center). There is nice beach in front of the hotel if you are lazy to go far. Clean and specious room (cleaning service every day), two good pools, no kids, great staff (everyone has been very nice and friendly). About the kitchen: good food, every day different menu for lunch and dinner, a special complement to sweets. Beer and white wine were also good. The owner, Maria, was a wonderful host. She gave us plenty of suggestions and itineraries to discover beautiful beaches around Agios Nikolaos and the east/south of Crete.
