Just wow!! This hostel which has just opened is simply magnificent. It has all the necessary amenities and more, including a restaurant, a library, a lounge, as well as soundproof boxes allowing you to isolate yourself to work on your PC, or even make a professional call. Concerning the rooms, I am attaching photos which will probably have more impact than words. Also a big thank you to the young Marina, who is adorable and very professional. I'm looking forward to seeing you again. Vincent B.

Excellent hotel, new and clean, situated in a perfect location. Amazing breakfasts, excellent cuisine and very friendly staff very warm to kids. We also greatly appreciated the presence of original artwork throughout the hotel. The rooftop pool with a view of the Acropolis is perfect, our kids loved the pool. In our opinion, this is one of the best hotels.

FAQs about hotels in Athens

A Dynamic City with 3400 Years of History

With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history whilst embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you will find tavernas serving tantalising souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.

A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds downtown.

Changing the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The up-market districts of Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.

Athens contains some of the finest museums in the world such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. From Athens International Airport to the Port of Piraeus, this is a city bustling with the old and new. On Booking.com you can find everything from modern hotels to a room in a classical building.

What guests said about Athens:

We stayed 4 nights.

We stayed 4 nights. In addition to the Acropolis, what impressed us most was Lykabettus and the Olympic stadium. Lykabettus has a funicular to take you up the 800 metres. Lovely small church at the top build in 1836. Superb views over the Acropolis and out to the sea. Worth being there for sunset and eating at the restaurant. Excellent metro with one line linking the airport with Piraeus. Nice restaurants, some with Greek music in the evening.

Perfect for strolling and discovering something stunning around every corner. It’s very easy to get around the city. Metro directly from the airport straight to centre of city. Tour buses aplenty, or just ramble and absorb the history. Loved the bustling nightlife around monasteraki. Locals are lovely and helpful.

Athens needs upgrades!

Athens needs upgrades! Clean up the graffiti, take some more pride in our homeland and more pride in the appearance of such historical buildings. A place so rich in history can be presented nicely if only the Athenian councils took some charge in offering incentivised or free graffiti removal and harsher punishments for vandals.

Our visit was in October and just about right to take...

Our visit was in October and just about right to take advantage of more temperate weather (in the mid 70's each day, with 1 day of drizzle) and fewer tourists (although we balked at the queue to see the Acropolis Museum and went to get coffee while our son pressed on and had a great time). If you enjoy exploring the history of places, you just about can't get any better than Athens and Crete. We bookended a weeklong stay in Chania, Crete with 11 days in Athens and got out and about every day and STILL didn't get to see everything we had hoped to see.
